According to The Guardian , British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced on June 15 that Blaise Metreweli has been appointed Director of the Secret Intelligence Service MI6. She will officially replace Richard Moore, the current Director of MI6, when his five-year term ends this fall.
"The appointment of Blaise Metreweli as Director of MI6 is a historic decision, coming at a time when the work of our intelligence agencies is more important than ever, as the UK faces threats on an unprecedented scale," Prime Minister Starmer stressed.

"I am very proud and honoured to be appointed as head of MI6. MI6, together with other agencies, plays a vital role in keeping the British people safe and promoting the UK's interests abroad," said Blaise Metreweli.
Ms Metreweli, 47, joined MI6 in 1999 and is currently the Director General of MI6's Q division, responsible for technology and innovation. She has previously held other director-level positions in MI6 and MI5, the domestic security and counter-intelligence agency.
She studied Anthropology at Cambridge University and spent much of her career in executive roles in the Middle East and Europe.

In 2024, Ms Metreweli received the Knighthood of the Order of St Michael and St George for her services to British foreign policy.
By convention, the head of MI6, known internally as "C", is the only official of the agency whose identity is publicly known and acknowledged.
