- The film “With you, there is peace” was released on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the People’s Public Security Forces’ Traditional Day, and clearly reflects the role of the grassroots police force. In your opinion, what makes the film so important?

- “With you, there is peace” is not only an entertaining work but also carries the mission of propagating and portraying the image of the people's police officer in the new era - close to the people, understanding the people, for the people. The current social context with many complicated issues requires the grassroots police to both maintain strict discipline and be skillful in their behavior, in order to gain the trust of the people. The film closely reflects those requirements and I feel honored to play the role of Huy - a commune police officer, contributing to conveying this message.

- Can you share a little about your role in the movie?

- My character Huy is a righteous and determined commune police officer, but also knows how to be gentle when necessary. He often has to face the fragile boundary between reason and emotion. Huy's daily job is to resolve security and order issues, social safety in the locality. The climax of the conflict is when Huy discovers that his brother-in-law is the one manipulating the "interest group" and is behind many violations. Fighting for peace for the people, while facing a torn family relationship, makes Huy a multi-dimensional, complex character who always has to face many challenges.

- What is special about the movie script that made you agree to participate?

- Honestly, when I read the script, I was... "shocked" because it was so difficult. The dialogue contained many technical terms, and had to ensure the propaganda nature, while also being soft and close so that the audience could easily accept it. This was the biggest pressure I had to overcome. But that's what made me interested, because in addition to the dramatic investigation, the work also cleverly interwoven everyday, familiar stories.

In particular, the film vividly reflects one of the major policies of the Party and State, which is to bring regular police to the communes, and takes place in the context of hot current events such as the rearrangement of administrative units; fighting against counterfeit goods, poor quality goods, dirty food, or implementing VNeID... These are topics close to life, but not easy to bring to the screen.

- You spent 10 years working in the police force. This must have given you many advantages in your role?

- It is true that I have 10 years of experience in the industry, but mainly in the fields of rituals, culture, and performing arts. I do not have deep expertise in communal police work, and I have little direct contact with the lives of the people at the grassroots level. When I played the role of Huy, I truly understood the hardships, difficulties, and pressures of the grassroots police force. They are the people closest to the people, having to solve all daily problems, and enforce the law in a way that is both reasonable and emotional. "With you, there is peace" will help the audience have a clearer view of their quiet but challenging work.

- And transforming into a commune police officer is really a challenge for you?

- There were many challenges. I was not familiar with the way a commune police officer talked to the people, colleagues or local authorities. Everything had to be learned from the beginning. Luckily, the director, Meritorious Artist Danh Dung, guided me carefully and especially the police force provided a lot of professional support, helping me gradually grasp the nuances and language needed to express. Once I got into the rhythm, everything became more natural.

- This is also your first leading role in a political drama on VTV1?

- Yes, because of that, I was under a lot of pressure, to the point that I couldn't eat or sleep for half a month. This is the most difficult role I have ever played. Being a police officer is difficult, being a commune police officer is even more difficult because of the huge workload, and having to handle it skillfully to maintain stability in the area. This pressure makes me always remind myself to work twice as hard to not disappoint the trust of the crew and the audience.

- The film is set in the present, when the country is carrying out many major political tasks. How attractive do you think this current event element is?

- I think that is a big plus. When the film's story is close to life and reflects the major policies of the Party and State such as bringing regular police to the communes, rearranging administrative units... the audience will clearly feel the closeness and timeliness. However, if not done properly, it is easy to fall into slogans and stiffness. I believe that "With you, there is peace" has chosen a simple, gentle approach, just enough to convey the message without losing the emotional rhythm of the audience.

- During filming, was there any memorable experience for you?

- This role has many moving scenes, so there were many rare "accidents" such as torn clothes during filming. But I still find this a "very happy" role because I get to fully live in the character, experience a very different perspective on the communal police force and challenge myself in a genre that I have never played before.

- Sincerely thank actor Tuan Tu!
