Thai Hoa Palace is considered a symbol of power under the Nguyen Dynasty, has unique architecture, and is an important work in the overall heritage site of Hue Royal Palace.

The “LOTUS Green Building” certification not only honors architectural and historical values but also recognizes the efforts of Hue city in restoring Thai Hoa Palace relic in a sustainable and environmentally friendly manner.

Over the course of 3 years, from November 2021 to November 2024, the restoration process of Thai Hoa Palace will be strictly implemented, using traditional materials combined with advanced conservation techniques, optimizing energy efficiency, minimizing emissions and maximally preserving the original value of the relic.

Vietnam Green Building Council Executive Director Douglas Lee Snyders appreciated Hue's commitment to bringing green development thinking into heritage conservation.

“LOTUS is not just a certification but an affirmation: heritage is not only the past but also the future, if properly protected,” Mr. Douglas Lee Snyders emphasized.

The project to preserve and restore the entire Thai Hoa Palace relic has a budget of nearly 128 billion VND, and has implemented many items such as: preserving, restoring, and rehabilitating the wooden load-bearing structure system, roof, wall, and floor systems; preserving, restoring, and rehabilitating details of the exterior and interior decorations of the building.

In particular, the construction of gilding on wooden structures and interior of the temple was carried out very carefully and methodically, "reviving" the golden, splendid space inside the temple.

After the completion of the restoration, the Thai Hoa Palace relic has received great attention from the tourist community. Along with exploiting and promoting the value of the relic, the Hue Monuments Conservation Center also announced and called on tourists to join hands to protect and preserve the heritage.

Thai Hoa Palace was built in 1805 under King Gia Long in the Dai Cung Mon area; in 1833, King Minh Mang restored and rebuilt it on a larger scale at its current location.
