Dien Bien: Competition "30 days of lightning speed to complete houses for people in flood-hit areas"

In the exciting atmosphere of competition to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2, on the morning of August 29, at the resettlement site of Hang Pu Xi village, Xa Dung commune, the Military Command of Dien Bien province held a launching ceremony of a special competition with the theme "30 days of lightning speed - reaching the finish line" to renovate and repair houses for people in flooded areas.

Colonel Nguyen Trung Dac, Political Commissar of Dien Bien Provincial Military Command, said: Following the tradition of Uncle Ho's soldiers and the spirit of "Serving the people", in the lightning-fast emulation campaign, Dien Bien Provincial Military Command set a goal of completing the construction of 80 new houses and repairing 241 houses for families affected by flash floods and natural disasters in the communes of Xa Dung, Na Son, Tia Dinh, Phinh Giang, Sin Thau, Nam Ke...

Colonel Nguyen Trung Dac, Political Commissar of Dien Bien Provincial Military Command, assigned units to directly build new houses for people in Hang Pu Xi village, Xa Dung commune.

Emphasizing the significance of the lightning-fast emulation campaign as a concrete action of the Dien Bien province armed forces, Colonel Nguyen Trung Dac also affirmed that the determination to complete houses for the people in the emulation campaign is also an order from the heart of a soldier who is always ready to sacrifice for the peaceful and happy life of the people.

"Today, at this resettlement site, we are determined to turn the spirit of September 2 into concrete actions of renovating and repairing houses for the people; striving to complete the renovating of 80 houses and repairing 241 houses by September 25. By doing so, we have made an important contribution to helping thousands of people and children have stable housing and a better life" - Colonel Nguyen Trung Dac emphasized.

It is known that at the same time the Dien Bien Provincial Military Command launched the lightning-fast emulation campaign, in the communes of Na Son, Tia Dinh, and Hang Lia, hundreds of officers and soldiers immediately started building new houses and repairing damaged houses for families.

Soldiers of the 82nd Infantry Regiment are building new houses for the people of Hang Pu Xi village.

Previously, as reported, the flash flood and landslide that occurred in Dien Bien in early August 2025 caused severe damage in Hang Pu Xi village, Xa Dung commune and the communes of Na Son, Phinh Giang, and Tia Dinh. The flash flood and landslide killed 10 people, injured 12 others; hundreds of people's houses collapsed and were swept away.

The most severe damage was in Hang Pu Xi village, with 20 houses collapsed and swept away by floodwaters; many children were buried in mud.

Directly inspecting and directing the overcoming of consequences in Hang Pu Xi village and Tia Dinh commune, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested Dien Bien province, the Ministry of National Defense, ministries and branches to give top priority to supporting people to build houses and overcome the consequences of natural disasters.

Immediately after the flash flood passed, the armed forces of Dien Bien province sent hundreds of officers and soldiers from various units to Hang Pu Xi and other communes to assist in moving people and property to safety and searching for those missing due to the flash flood.
