Faced with this reality, Ha Hai Railway Joint Stock Company ( Vietnam Railway Corporation - VNR) has stopped running trains across Duong Bridge (Km9+667) on the Hanoi - Dong Dang railway line until the water level recedes to a safe level.
According to information from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, due to the influence of storm No. 3, the northern provinces continue to have heavy to very heavy rain, water levels in rivers continue to rise, and weather developments remain complicated.
To ensure the safety of people and property of people participating in traffic, safety of construction works, safety of train operations and State property, VNR requests the Ministry of Transport to consult with the Hanoi People's Committee on banning all people and vehicles from participating in traffic on Duong Bridge from 10:00 p.m. on September 10, 2024 until the water recedes to safe conditions.
Duong Bridge is a 225-meter-long road and railway bridge across the Duong River, connecting Duc Giang Ward (Long Bien District) with Yen Vien Town (Gia Lam District), put into operation in 1902. After a long period of operation, Duong Bridge has shown serious deterioration. Currently, the new Duong Bridge with a total investment of more than 1,800 billion VND is under construction.
