His main research interests include acute respiratory infections caused by viruses, such as influenza, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and some other viral and bacterial diseases.

In addition, Professor Yoshida Lay Myint also conducts extensive research on dengue fever, drug-resistant HIV and many other health issues affecting the community.

Since 2006, Professor Yoshida Lay Myint has been appointed as the representative coordinator of the Institute of Tropical Medicine, Nagasaki University in Khanh Hoa, Vietnam and has made important contributions to scientific research cooperation projects of the Institute of Tropical Medicine with the Khanh Hoa Department of Health, as well as with the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology (Vietnam).

Over the past 20 years in Vietnam, scientific research groups under the leadership of Professor Yoshida Lay Myint have conducted many important studies on infectious diseases in Vietnam (especially research on pneumococcal bacteria, dengue fever and other diseases).

The research results of Prof. Dr. Yoshida Lay Myint or the research groups he led have been published in more than 100 scientific articles, making great contributions to clarifying many global health issues, having high community applicability and contributing to the control of many infectious diseases in Vietnam and many other countries.

According to the review results of the Pasteur Institute of Nha Trang, Prof. Dr. Yoshida Lay Myint has many achievements and important contributions in scientific research cooperation, training and technology transfer, contributing to promoting socio-economic development and improving the capacity of the health sector of Khanh Hoa province, especially in the work of protecting and caring for people's health.
