Successful auction of more than 1.58 million tons of illegally mined coal at Minh Tien Coal Mine

On the morning of June 26, the Thai Nguyen Provincial Property Auction Service Center organized an auction of nearly 1.58 million tons of illegally mined coal at Minh Tien Coal Mine (Dai Tu) confiscated according to Judgment No. 67/2023/HSST dated October 27, 2023 of the Thai Nguyen Provincial People's Court and Judgment Execution Decision No. 89/QD-CTHADS dated October 31, 2024 of the Director of the Thai Nguyen Provincial Civil Judgment Enforcement Department. The auction was supervised by representatives of the Provincial Civil Judgment Enforcement Department, the Provincial Police, and the Provincial People's Procuracy.

Customers vote to auction over 1.58 million tons of illegally mined coal.

Accordingly, the starting price for the auction of more than 1.58 million tons of coal is over 291.6 billion VND, with a step price of 1 billion VND or more. There are 2 customers participating in the auction, including: DHA General Production and Service Company Limited (located in Thai Nguyen City) and Thanh Hung Trade Development Investment Joint Stock Company Branch (located in Hai Duong City).

The auction took place publicly, transparently, in accordance with the provisions of the law. After 1 round of auction, DHA Production and General Services Company Limited won the auction with the amount of over 292.7 billion VND.

Representative of DHA General Production and Service Company Limited signed the auction winning minutes.

Previously, since 2014, Yen Phuoc Joint Stock Company was licensed by the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen province to exploit minerals at Minh Tien Coal Mine (Dai Tu), with permitted reserves of over 136,000 tons of coal, exploitation capacity of 8,500 tons/year; exploitation period until 2031. In 2018, after site clearance, the Company began exploitation.

However, about a year later, Ms. Chau Thi My Linh, Director of Yen Phuoc Joint Stock Company, transferred all mining operations at Minh Tien Coal Mine to Dong Bac Hai Duong Company Limited. The contract signed between the two parties showed that the mining volume was at least 400,000 tons/year, for a period of 5 years, dozens of times higher than the licensed output. The investigation agency determined that the subjects had illegally mined more than 3 million tons of coal.
