Statistics show that as of 7:30 a.m. on August 28, there were 16 traffic jams on the roads.
Thanh Hoa province has 10 flooded locations, of which National Highway 2 has 2 flooded locations, local roads have 8 flooded locations. It is expected that by 2:00 p.m. on August 28, traffic will be reopened.
Nghe An province has 6 flooded locations, of which 1 National Highway is flooded, 5 local roads are flooded. It is expected that by 3:00 p.m. on August 28, traffic will be reopened. Other provinces have reopened.
At flooded and landslide locations, the Road Management Areas and the Department of Construction have directed contractors to perform regular maintenance, placed warning signs and arranged 24/7 traffic controllers. Currently, there is still light rain on national highways, expressways and provincial roads. The Vietnam Road Administration will continue to update, review and compile statistics in the next reports.
No further damage has been reported in the railway sector, and rail transport is running smoothly. In the aviation sector, at Tho Xuan Airport, the fence at the beginning of CHC31 (about 450m from the CHC) is still flooded due to Cua Dat Hydropower Plant releasing floodwaters. The local flooding at taxiway S1 has been resolved, and operations are operating normally.
Dong Hoi Airport is still operating normally. Meanwhile, Vinh Airport has re-erected fallen trees, cleaned up areas, and is repairing fallen ceilings and damaged windows in the terminal. Construction activities at the airport have resumed since August 27.
The maritime sector has not recorded any damage caused by storm No. 5. According to the report of the Vietnam Maritime Administration, in the management areas of the Maritime Port Authorities: Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Thai Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Thua Thien Hue, Da Nang, Quang Ngai, Quy Nhon, there are 844 ships, including 376 seagoing ships and 468 inland waterway vehicles with VR-SB class.
These vessels have been provided with information about the tropical depression situation in the East Sea by the Maritime Port Authorities and the Vietnam Coastal Information Station System to have appropriate disaster prevention and control plans.
Currently, the Ministry of Construction has been directing the Vietnam Maritime Electronic Information Company Limited to monitor, update, immediately process information and promptly notify captains of ships and boats operating at sea about the location, developments, and direction of movement of the tropical depression, so that they can proactively avoid, escape, or not move into the danger zone.
The Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center is ready with forces and means to participate in search and rescue when ordered. Maritime port authorities, during the process of carrying out procedures for ships entering and leaving the port, will regularly report the developments of tropical depressions to guide ships to avoid entering dangerous areas;
The Ministry of Construction also directed agencies and units to be on duty 24/7 and closely monitor the situation and movement of the tropical depression to have timely response plans.
