Hue welcomes Vietnam's leading modern battery complex

(Chinhphu.vn) - Kim Long Motor Hue Joint Stock Company and LG Energy Solution, the world's leading Lithium-ion battery manufacturer, have just signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on battery supply. LG Energy Solution will supply cylindrical battery cells, while Kim Long Motor will manufacture and assemble complete battery packs.

Kim Long Motor Hue Joint Stock Company and LG Energy Solution, the world's leading Lithium-ion battery manufacturer, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on battery supply cooperation.

This is an important strategic step, marking a comprehensive cooperation relationship between a world-leading energy corporation and an automobile manufacturing and assembly enterprise in Vietnam. At the same time, it is an important factor in contributing to the shaping and strong development of high-quality electric vehicles "Made in Vietnam" in the future...

'Made in Vietnam' battery chain formed at Kim Long Motor Industrial Park

The project is expected to come into operation in early 2026, on a scale of 9 hectares with a total investment of 1,200 billion VND, located in Kim Long Motor Hue Industrial Park.

Kim Long Motor Factory will operate with a comprehensive scope, including stamping, assembly, welding and packaging (battery packs). This will be one of the leading modern battery pack manufacturing and assembly complexes in Vietnam, built according to international standards, applying advanced technology with an automation rate of up to 90%.

In the first phase, the factory is expected to have a capacity of 1 million kWh/year and will continue to expand in the following years. The operation of the factory will not only ensure a high-quality battery supply for Kim Long Motor's electric vehicles, but also create a platform for Vietnam to affirm its position in the global value chain of the battery and electric vehicle industry - a strategic sector shaping the future of green transportation and the circular economy worldwide.

Kim Long Motor's battery manufacturing and assembly plant, when put into operation, will help achieve the localization target of over 80% by the second quarter of 2026, while contributing to affirming Vietnam's position on the global and regional clean energy industry map.

Cooperating with LG Energy Solution - the world's leading Lithium-ion battery manufacturer - will help Kim Long Motor proactively source supply, optimize costs and control quality, which are important factors to contribute to shaping and strongly developing high-quality electric vehicle lines "Made in Vietnam" in the future.

According to Mr. Ho Cong Hai, the cooperation with LG not only creates a solid foundation for KIM LONG MOTOR to affirm its position in the domestic market and gradually reach the international level, but is also a strategic step to increase the localization rate, aiming to reach over 80% before the second quarter of 2026, contributing to making KIM LONG MOTOR Hue Automobile Manufacturing and Assembly Industrial Park become the leading center for automobile manufacturing and assembly and auto parts in the region.

This cooperation activity contributes to the practical implementation of the Politburo's "four pillars" Resolutions as well as the calls and appeals of the Party and State leaders on breakthroughs, science and technology development, innovation and digital transformation, private economic development, international integration, etc., contributing to socio-economic development and environmental protection, and rapid but sustainable national development.

When put into operation, the Battery Manufacturing and Assembly Plant will become a symbol of the strategic partnership between Vietnam and global technology corporations. The project will not only create job opportunities and contribute to a separate industrial park, but also directly contribute to the development of Hue city and the whole country.
