Wedding bombings in Nigeria kill at least 18 people

The first explosion occurred at a wedding ceremony at around 3pm local time on Saturday, followed by another at Gwoza General Hospital and a third at a funeral.

Borno State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) Director General Barkindo Muhammad Saidu visited the scene of the blast in Gwoza town. According to the Borno State Emergency Management Agency-SEMA, men, women and children were among the dead.

According to local Nigerian media, the bomber was carrying a baby on his back when he stormed the venue and detonated the homemade bomb at the wedding held on Saturday in Tashan Mararaba near the Fire Service Station in Gwoza town.

Meanwhile, another bomber disguised as a mourner, detonated another explosive device at Gwoza LGA as people were preparing for the funeral of victims killed in an attack hours ago.
