Da Nang strengthens response to radiation and nuclear incidents

The People's Committee of Da Nang city has just issued document No. 1 to departments, branches, sectors and localities on strengthening response to radiation and nuclear incidents in the city.

The City People's Committee requests the Department of Science and Technology to preside over and coordinate with departments, branches, localities and media agencies to promote propaganda and dissemination of legal regulations on ensuring radiation safety and security of radioactive sources; organize training, foster knowledge and raise awareness of responding to radiation and nuclear risks and incidents for organizations, units, businesses and people in the city.

At the same time, strengthen inspection and examination in the field of radiation and nuclear safety and radioactive source security; promptly detect and strictly handle violations of regulations on ensuring radiation safety and radioactive source security by relevant organizations and individuals, especially facilities that use and store radioactive sources and medical diagnostic X-ray equipment.

The Department of Science and Technology guides organizations and individuals to fully comply with regulations on declaration, licensing of radiation work and related procedures in accordance with the provisions of law; organizes the review, updating and supplementing of radiation and nuclear incident response scenarios in accordance with the actual socio -economic development situation of the city.

Relevant departments, branches, sectors and localities, based on their assigned functions and tasks, proactively deploy solutions to ensure radiation safety and security of radioactive sources at their managed units and localities.
