Determination to act
In 2023, the Women's Union of Phuoc Chanh commune initiated a concentrated black pig farming model in village 1, with 10 members participating, each household receiving 5 pigs from the State.
Ms. Ho Thi Hau (head of the household group implementing the model) shared that at first, she also encountered some difficulties due to lack of techniques, but the household group received timely support and gradually formed a collective working mindset.
“The pigs are growing well, giving birth to their first litter, creating trust and encouraging households to participate. From this model, new livelihoods are created for many families, opening up ways to increase income, helping households reduce difficulties and boldly register to escape poverty,” said Ms. Hau.

In Phuoc Nang commune, the organic rice model of more than 115 hectares replacing traditional farming methods has attracted hundreds of households to participate. The first rice crop piloted at the end of 2023 brought quite positive results, when the organic rice yield reached 62 quintals/ha, 20 quintals higher than the traditional farming method.
Thanks to not using pesticides, the market price is high (the black rice variety alone costs up to 50 thousand VND/kg)..., so people have a good income. Local people have also boldly started to switch from growing acacia to large timber trees, fruit trees, piloting the planting of Morinda officinalis, diversifying agricultural products, especially crops with high economic value and sustainability.

According to the leaders of Phuoc Son district, the locality has built economic models closely following the spirit of Directive 27 of the District Party Committee, eliminating the mentality of waiting in the community, and encouraging the application of science and technology.
Authorities at all levels, the Fatherland Front, and mass organizations guide people to effectively use loan capital, take advantage of family resources to develop the economy, and build a civilized lifestyle.
Mr. Le Quang Trung - Chairman of Phuoc Son District People's Committee said, changing the mindset helps people to be diligent, thrifty, and eliminate backward customs. The biggest change is that the poverty rate has decreased significantly each year.
The determination is also demonstrated through the implementation of more than 60 production development projects from the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction, focusing on livestock, crop cultivation and collective economic models. Technical training courses help people access new knowledge, change traditional farming practices, and contribute to economic improvement.
