'Acting together for the blue ocean' - The journey of 10,000 hearts spreading the message of green living

Nearly 10,000 volunteers together created a “green wave” spreading across 28 provinces and cities across the country in the campaign “Acting together for the blue sea” launched by the Green Future Fund (under Vingroup) on June 8. In just over an hour, 72 tons of waste were collected, more than 17 hectares of coastline and estuaries were cleaned, igniting an unprecedented sense of community responsibility and awareness of protecting the marine environment.

Create a ripple effect, bring back the blue sea

From early morning on June 8, beaches and estuaries along the length of the country were bustling with the presence of thousands of volunteers weaving through each rocky beach and each sandy shore to collect each piece of trash, contributing to restoring the pristine beauty of the homeland's sea.

Volunteer Nguyen Ha Minh Nguyen (unit of Vinh Phuong Commune Youth Union, Nha Trang) shared: "Participating in the campaign, I feel proud to be part of the wave of action to keep our homeland's sea and islands green, clean, beautiful and sustainably developed."

At each point, the presence of a large number of local organizations, students, business employees, etc. turned the campaign into a real "green festival". Notably, in Hai Phong , a group of Vinschool Imperia students chose to start their summer vacation in a meaningful way: cleaning up trash to protect the ocean. "I was surprised to see such a large amount of trash. That made me understand that every small daily action like using plastic bottles also has big consequences," said student Nguyen Thanh Hai (class 9A4).

More than just a simple trash cleanup activity, the campaign is also a strong reminder about consumer habits and environmental responsibility.

Ms. Ho Huong Giang - a teacher at Binh Khanh High School and a volunteer in Can Gio District, Ho Chi Minh City - said: "The campaign has really impacted my awareness of learning how to live green and more responsibly. I think we need to change our habits first, we need to limit the use of disposable plastic bottles, and instead use personal water bottles."

After nearly 2 hours, dozens of tons of waste were neatly collected, restoring the beauty and purity to the beaches. "When I saw the beach after cleaning up, it became cleaner and more beautiful, I felt happy and proud. Thank you to the Green Future Fund for starting this program so that young people like us have the opportunity to clean up and build a greener, cleaner, and more beautiful environment together," said Nguyen Van Anh, a volunteer in Hai Phong.

Nurturing "green seeds" for future generations

The campaign “Acting together for the blue ocean” has truly awakened the power of the community. Each participant is not only a volunteer, but also a “green nucleus” - someone who inspires family, friends and society.

Ms. Tran Thi Thu Ha (Vinhomes Grand Park, Ho Chi Minh City) expressed: “I hope that not only June 8, but every day is a day of action for the environment. Just changing from small things like using personal bottles, throwing trash in the right place or limiting the use of plastic bags, we have contributed greatly to the environment.”

Regularly following information about the campaign via Facebook of the Green Future Fund, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Kim Cuc (Water Resources University, Hanoi) highly appreciated the practicality, dissemination andeducational value of the campaign: “The campaign does not stop at short-term effectiveness. It is the 'catalyst' that creates a wave of sustainable action nationwide.”

According to the expert, you don’t need to live by the sea to take action for a blue ocean. Just by changing each person’s awareness, small consumer behaviors, such as reducing plastic use, will also contribute to reducing microplastics in the ocean. Professor Cuc said plastic waste is a global threat, seriously affecting the landscape, marine ecosystems and food chains, thereby negatively affecting human health and life.

Therefore, according to her, more campaigns like “Acting together for the blue ocean” are needed because the effectiveness does not stop at the time of completion, but will continue to spread and leave lasting value in the future. Each volunteer will become a “green nucleus”, inspiring friends, colleagues and family.

“From a single action, they can lead their community to positive and sustainable change,” Professor Cuc emphasized.

The campaign is the first step in the journey of educating the whole society to build a generation that knows how to appreciate and act for nature.
