Russian cybersecurity firm recruits 7-year-old programming prodigy to management team

DNVN - A cybersecurity company in Russia has decided to invite a 7-year-old programming prodigy to join its management team.

According to the BBC (UK), this prodigy is named Sergey, currently living in St Petersburg. Sergey made a strong impression when he posted software writing tutorial videos since he was 5 years old. In those videos, the boy mainly uses Russian and sometimes English, with a style of giving detailed step-by-step programming instructions to the audience.

Due to Sergey's outstanding talent, the cybersecurity company Pro32 offered the boy to head their training division.

According to Russian law, Sergey is only allowed to work and receive a salary when he turns 14. However, Pro32 CEO Igor Mandik told the BBC that he had discussed with Sergey's family how to cooperate until the boy is old enough to work. Sergey's father was surprised but also excited about the opportunity and looked forward to the time when Sergey officially joined the company.

Mr. Mandik praised Sergey's ability not only in programming but also in training. About Sergey, he commented: "For me, this boy is like Mozart. I am sure that by the time he turns 14, he will be an expert in teaching and programming."

Mr. Mandik also asserted that employees from various departments at Pro32, such as accounting and sales, can learn from the boy. Mr. Mandik expected that after seven years, the company would discuss the issue of Sergey's salary.
