That passion began when Mr. Tran Huu Hue was just a 14-year-old boy. He recounted that during a playtime, seeing his friends engrossed in looking at small stamps that looked like colorful miniature paintings, he suddenly felt interested and thus, his passion for stamps grew. From that moment, the world of stamps opened up, leading him on a meaningful and persistent collecting journey that has lasted for more than six decades.
Now, Mr. Hue's collection has become a real "treasure" with more than 200,000 stamps, carefully arranged in separate albums. Among them, the most special are more than 2,000 stamps about Uncle Ho. "To me, each stamp about Uncle Ho is not just a simple image, but also a story, a vivid page of history. It is the process of learning about Uncle Ho through stamps that makes me admire his great patriotism even more and from then on, I told myself to learn and follow. To get these precious stamps, I did not mind the difficulties. I was once introduced to a Japanese stamp club, where I could exchange envelopes with international friends. Thanks to that, I also took the opportunity to improve my foreign language to communicate and expand my collection network" - Mr. Hue shared.
Spreading the passion for stamp collecting to the younger generation
For Mr. Hue, stamp collecting is not only a personal hobby, but also has a profound spiritual meaning and is a means ofeducation . He has used the values from stamps to teach his children and grandchildren to live beautifully and usefully. When the Vietnam Stamp Association organizes exhibitions, he always enthusiastically participates with many different topics such as Uncle Ho, culture, and the army, showing the diversity and depth of his collection. After achieving many achievements in the field of collecting, Mr. Hue began to cherish a bigger dream: to open a stamp club to guide young children. His goal is not only to inspire a passion for stamps, but also to educate children about patriotism and patience.
Mr. Tran Huu Hue's dedication and enthusiasm have sown passion in many generations of students. A typical example is Le Ngoc Quynh Huong, a student at Nui Sap Town Secondary School, who has only been in the club for 3 months but has collected more than 10 types of stamps. "I especially love stamps about Hue royal court music, because through them I have learned a lot about Hue royal court music (recognized by UNESCO as a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity). The club not only helps me expand my knowledge of Vietnamese history, but also learn more about the country's landmarks and landscapes through miniature stamps" - Quynh Huong confided.
Sharing the same joy, Ly Thanh Nhan, a 6th grader at the same school, has also joined the stamp club for a year. He finds the club very meaningful, helping him relieve the pressure of studying. In particular, stamps about history also help him remember knowledge longer and apply it effectively to his studies...
It can be said that Mr. Tran Huu Hue is not only a simple stamp collector, but also a teacher, an inspiration, contributing to nurturing knowledge and love for the homeland for the young generation through small but meaningful stamps.
Mr. Tran Huu Hue's journey of collecting and spreading his passion for stamps is a beautiful story about how a personal hobby can become a useful educational tool, contributing to nurturing love for the homeland and inspiring many generations.
