No fancy effects, no trendy background music, the simple video captures the image of a small winding road through the cool green trees, attracting viewers with its peaceful beauty and tropical forest style.

The caption "You are on the cross-island road in Hon Son, not Bali" surprised many people, because at first glance, the scene could easily make people mistake it for a tropical island in Indonesia or Thailand.

However, this is Hon Son - a rather "secret" island in Kien Giang province.

“Vietnamese version of Bali” attracts millions of views (Video: TikTok @trungluan_).

The video was recorded by Trung Luan (26 years old, Nha Trang) during a recent trip to Hon Son. He admitted that he was also "stunned" by the peaceful and wild beauty of the island when he first set foot here.

Below the video, many people expressed their pride in the natural beauty of Vietnam. Some netizens also recounted their experiences when coming here.

“The day I went, it was raining and windy, the waves washed up on the embankment, some local people drove their cars out to block the turn so that visitors wouldn’t get lost and wouldn’t get wet. It was really heartwarming,” one person wrote.

Hon Son is located about 65km off the coast of Kien Giang province, between Hon Tre and Nam Du. With an area of just over 11.5km2, this place is also known as Hon Son Rai or Lai Son - the name associated with Lai Son commune, Kien Hai district.

Despite its modest area, Hon Son possesses all the elements to become a "mini resort paradise" for those who love slowness, originality and intimacy.

Mr. Luan said that on the island there is only one circular road, embracing all the beaches and main attractions. Tourists often choose to rent motorbikes (about 150,000 VND/day) to roam around on their own.

Taking a walk around the island in the early morning or at sunset is an experience that tourists tell each other "cannot be missed".

After walking around, visitors can stop at Bang Beach, Nha Beach, and Xep Beach with many tropical-style "virtual living corners". Most services on the island, from car rental, room booking to sightseeing tours, are operated by locals.

Mr. Trung Luan said that the cost for his and his companion's 3-day, 2-night trip was only about 3.3 million VND, including round-trip train tickets, hotel and car rental.

The cost of eating local dishes such as bun quay and com tam ranges from 35,000 to 50,000 VND. Seafood and herring salad are a bit more expensive, but according to Mr. Luan, they are “worth the money”. However, he also noted that visitors should ask for the price before ordering to avoid misunderstandings.
