Previously, through inspection, the Vietnam Road Administration discovered that during the exploitation and use, many sections of the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet expressway (through the new Lam Dong province) had some damages and shortcomings, posing potential risks to traffic safety and construction safety. In particular, some locations of the road surface and bridge were damaged, cracked, and had "potholes"; the roadside and slope were cracked and eroded; the road paint was worn and faded; the traffic safety system and bridge railings lacked bolt connections; the bridge expansion joints had cracked concrete and loose connecting bolts; the lighting system at some locations was damaged; the drainage system was damaged, etc.
According to Pham Quoc Huy, the Executive Director of the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet Expressway Project, the above-mentioned shortcomings have been basically overcome by the project investor, contractors and construction units. The units are currently continuing to review to promptly detect shortcomings for thorough handling. It is expected that next week, Road Management Area IV.1 (Vietnam Road Administration) will conduct an inspection and will have a specific report on overcoming the shortcomings on this expressway with an investment capital of more than 10,000 billion VND.
Previously, on June 25, SGGP Newspaper published an article titled Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet Expressway: Peeling Road, "Dead" Rest Stops, reflecting the damaged road surface, unreasonable road markings, and the appearance of illegal rest stops on this expressway, causing traffic insecurity.
