Gonzales (who has had a 20-year career with Indonesian football) admitted that he felt nervous when watching the dramatic penalty shootout between the U23 Indonesia team and the U23 Thailand team in the semi-final match of the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship on July 25.
"The goal, if God willing, the goal will come," Gonzales said while waiting for Alfarezzi Buffon's shot, the player who took the final shot to help the archipelago team win a thrilling victory over the "War Elephants" to win a ticket to the final match with U23 Vietnam.
Meanwhile, U23 Indonesia winger Frengky Missa admitted that the victory over Thailand was an indescribable joy but stressed that he and his teammates would have to quickly forget it to focus on the final match against U23 Vietnam.
"Thank God we are in the final. But this battle is not over yet, we still have one more match. So, forget about yesterday, we will enter the final with absolute confidence. The final will be very difficult, no matter who the opponent is," Frengky Missa expressed.

The final match between host U23 Indonesia and U23 Vietnam will take place at Bung Karno Stadium at 8:00 p.m. on July 29.
Vietnam U23 is the most successful team in the Southeast Asian U23 Championship with two championships. Meanwhile, Indonesia only won one championship in 2019.
