President Vo Van Thuong receives Governor of Kaluga province, Russian Federation

On the afternoon of November 22, at the Presidential Palace,President Vo Van Thuong received Mr. Vladislav Valerievich Shapsha, Governor of Kaluga province, Russian Federation, who is visiting Vietnam.

Pleased to receive Governor Vladislav Shapsha, President Vo Van Thuong stated that Vietnam attaches importance to the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the Russian Federation, and believes that the Governor's visit will contribute to promoting increasingly closer and more effective cooperation between the two countries.

The President said that at the Belt and Road Forum held last October in China, the President and Russian President Putin had a sincere and open meeting, exchanging substantive content on many issues to further strengthen the relationship between Vietnam and the Russian Federation.

The Governor of Kaluga Province expressed his gratitude to President Vo Van Thuong for taking the time to meet him and said that he was very interested in the discussions between the President and President Putin, and wished to expand cooperation with Vietnam in many fields. The potential for cooperation between the two sides is still very large. The strengths of Kaluga Province are the automobile industry, transportation, wood processing, food, high-tech agriculture , energy, etc. The Governor wishes to promote cooperation with Vietnam in these fields.

The Governor was pleased to inform that Vietnamese partners are conducting dairy production activities in Kaluga province, with the long-term goal of supplying products to Asia- Pacific and Vietnam. The Governor looks forward to welcoming the President to Kaluga. Kaluga has established a sister city with Binh Thuan province, and the two localities are also actively cooperating to promote tourism and cultural exchange.

President Vo Van Thuong said that the achievements of cooperation between Kaluga province and Vietnam are a vivid symbol of the traditional friendship between Vietnam and the Russian Federation. Vietnam attaches great importance to the Vietnam-Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, and in 2023, despite many difficulties, high-level contacts will take place regularly and substantively.

President Vo Van Thuong emphasized that cooperation between localities is very important, deepening the relationship between the two countries. With the support of the Governor, projects of Vietnamese enterprises investing in Kaluga are being implemented effectively.

The President also hopes that Kaluga and Binh Thuan will have more measures to promote cooperation in tourism, because Binh Thuan is a locality with advantages in natural landscapes and beautiful coastline, making it an attractive destination for Russian tourists.
