The Vietnamese women's volleyball team just had a historic victory over Thailand in the SEA V.League 2025 round 2 on August 10.
Right after the girls from the "Golden Temple" returned home, Mr. Somporn Chaibangyang shared about the results of the home team and sent congratulations to the Vietnamese team.
"We must praise and congratulate Vietnam for their success at SEA V.League 2025, creating history for their volleyball. We need to sit together, from the executive board, technical board to the coaching board and the athletes to discuss what happened and find a way forward, especially before the World Championship," he said.
When asked whether the defeat to Vietnam would affect the team before the 2025 World Cup and the 33rd SEA Games later this year, Mr. Somporn said: "I think everyone knows that it may not have a big impact, but it may have a little impact.
A loss can be emotional. However, most volleyball fans have been following us for a long time and they understand. Everything has its ups and downs. I believe people will understand that these things happen as a natural cycle.”
He also emphasized that Thai volleyball needs to try harder: "For our part, we must find ways to develop to catch up and surpass them, so that they cannot keep up. At the same time, Thai volleyball must aim for world class. We clearly see that Vietnamese women's volleyball has developed a lot. Therefore, Thailand must also look to the world and maintain its position."
The Thai women's volleyball team will focus all their efforts on the upcoming 2025 World Championship at home, taking place from August 22 to September 7.
