This is the sharing of Mr. Tran Ba Khoi Nguyen, Chairman of Zalopay, at the event demonstrating the QR payment scanning feature: "See Now Scan Now - Tech-shion Show" organized by Zalopay on the afternoon of August 25 with the companionship of the Miss Universe Vietnam Organization.
Accordingly, from today (August 25), more than 14 million users of this e-wallet can use the international QR scanning feature to make payments in 5 countries in the Asian region. This is a strategic step that demonstrates the technological capacity of a "made in Vietnam" product, contributing to realizing the aspiration of Vietnamese technology accompanying Vietnamese people to go out into the world .
By the end of 2025, Zalopay is expected to open an additional feature allowing international customers to pay QR in Vietnam from Visa and Mastercard cards issued in any country, expanding global payment connections.
Previously, since March 2025, Zalopay has become Vietnam's pioneering payment application, allowing users to scan QR codes to pay at more than 120,000 stores in the NETS and SGQR networks in Singapore.
Vietnamese tourists can use Zalopay wallet to scan QR codes to pay when traveling in 5 countries in Asia.
"For the domestic market, in the very near future, users can use the Zalopay application to scan Wifi QR, bank card information or even vehicle license plates to check and make immediate fine payments if any. At that time, opening Zalopay to scan QR is not only limited to payment, but becomes a habit associated with all daily activities" - Mr. Tran Ba Khoi Nguyen.
Regarding security, Zalopay representative said that they have deployed many layers of "hidden protection" such as warning when transferring money to risky accounts or requesting re-confirmation when detecting unusual operations.
Event attendees can immediately purchase their favorite fashion designs with a QR scan on Zalopay.
Regarding cross-border payments using QR codes, the National Payment Corporation of Vietnam (NAPAS) said that implementing the Government's direction and under the direction of the State Bank, in its role as a national retail payment infrastructure provider, the company has implemented a plan to expand cross-border payment connections with many countries in the Asian region.
To date, NAPAS has completed connections with Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and is actively coordinating to deploy connections with a number of countries such as China, Korea, Japan... It is expected that the cross-border payment service via QR code between Vietnam and China will be completed this year.
According to experts, cross-border payment connections are a trend in many countries in the region and around the world, aiming to promote the use of local currency in payment activities and economic development in general.
