Son Tra night market stops operating

On the morning of March 26, the People's Committee of Son Tra District ( Da Nang City) announced that it had agreed to terminate the operation of Son Tra night market (An Hai Tay Ward) from July 1, 2024, and at the same time notified relevant individuals and organizations to implement.

Previously, since 2018, DHTC Da Nang Joint Stock Company was the unit that signed a contract with the Economic Department of Son Tra District People's Committee on the plan to organize, manage and operate the night market for 5 years (including the extended period due to the Covid-19 pandemic).

The reason for ending Son Tra night market operations from July 1, 2024 is due to the expiration of the contract and the end of the pilot phase 1 of the night market operations.

According to the People's Committee of Son Tra District, within 10 days from July 1, 2024, DHTC Da Nang Joint Stock Company will move all assets, materials, equipment, and return the sidewalks and streets of Mai Hac De and Ly Nam De (where the night market is being held).

Mr. Huynh Van Hung, Vice Chairman of Son Tra District People's Committee, said that this company is responsible for working with all Son Tra night market traders on ending phase 1 of the night market's operations at the old location, noting that it is necessary to completely resolve related rights and obligations, ensuring appropriateness and harmony of interests of all parties.

The District People's Committee will review and evaluate the overall activities of Son Tra night market, report to Da Nang City People's Committee, and propose a plan to implement phase 2.

It is expected that Son Tra night market phase 2 will be relocated to a nearby area to ensure a stable location, suitable for management of security and order, traffic safety and environmental sanitation.

As Thanh Nien reported, Son Tra night market is like a tourist market, with about 300 vendors and business booths, of which the most special is cuisine, especially seafood and Quang specialties that are popular with tourists.
