This Ford Transit minivan leaves expensive supercars in the dust
Few people would dare to bring Lamborghini and Ferrari to race with the Ford Transit using a 2,000 horsepower electric motor, 2 to 3 times the power of supercars.

Ford Motor made history again, but this time with an unexpected vehicle, the Transit minivan at the Nurburgring Nordschleife, driven by Romain Dumas, and this was actually an all-electric Ford Transit SuperVan 4.2 doing a time trial lap at the "green hell". Not long ago, the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X C8, with minimal safety improvements, became the fastest American production car around the Nurburgring Nordschleife, with a time of 6 minutes 49.275 seconds.
That's faster than the regular ZR1 (6:50.763) and, more importantly, faster than the Ford Mustang GTD's lap time of 6:52.072 with Dirk Muller at the wheel. But this time, Ford made history at the "green hell" track with a Transit that is absolutely no ordinary minivan. This all-electric 2,000-horsepower Ford Transit SuperVan 4.2 has set records at places like Bathurst and won at Pikes Peak.
With electric performance vehicles now an integral part of Ford's performance racing portfolio, they took the SuperVan for a timed lap at the Nurburgring and turned in an incredible time of 6:48.393. This means it's not only faster than the Porsche 911 GT3 RS and Chevrolet ZR1X, but also the ninth fastest lap of all time by any car built on planet Earth. Of course, don't forget that this is a custom-built race car with slick tires and 2,000 horsepower, but still, that makes this Transit incredibly fast.
But that's not all, as Ford Performance teases that there's more to come, especially with the F-150 Lightning SuperTruck also at the track on the same day, but the car's lap times are unknown. Ford Transit uses an electric engine that has been upgraded to 2,000 horsepower, 2 to 3 times the power of today's supercars, it is ready to make Lamborghini and Ferrari supercars become "toys" when competing.
