General Motors (GM) has just confirmed that the new generation of the low-cost electric car Chevrolet Bolt EV will officially launch earlier than expected. The Chevrolet Bolt EV 2027 is expected to return to the market in 2026, as a strategic effort to maintain its position in the increasingly competitive popular electric car segment.

Instead of maintaining the old platform, the 2027 Chevrolet Bolt EV will switch to GM's latest Ultium platform, which is being applied to many higher-end electric vehicles such as the Cadillac Lyriq or Chevrolet Silverado EV. This promises to significantly improve operating range, fast charging capabilities and optimize production costs.

Despite the comprehensive platform upgrade, GM affirms that it will continue to keep the price "super affordable", expected to be under 30,000 USD, making the 2027 Bolt EV an ideal choice for ordinary consumers, especially new customers switching to electric vehicles or young urban families.

Leaked sketches show that the new generation Bolt EV will have a more modern, compact design, with a crossover feel and an aerodynamically optimized design language.

The interior is expected to be simpler but smarter, with a large screen integrating a Google Built-in entertainment system, similar to GM's current EV models.

The Chevrolet Bolt was one of the best-selling electric vehicles in North America before battery problems forced GM to issue a mass recall in 2021.

Currently, GM has not announced plans to distribute the Bolt EV 2027 to the global market. However, with the trend of popularizing low-cost electric vehicles, it is possible that this model will appear in developing markets, located in South America and Europe.

This comeback is not only about the product, but also an effort to regain consumer trust through quality, technology and practical use value.
