The grandson of King Thanh Thai, who is working as a motorbike taxi driver in Saigon, was able to return to the ancient capital of Hue to attend the death anniversary of his grandfather and several Nguyen Dynasty kings, and visit the relic complex.
With the support of the Hue Monuments Conservation Center, Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Bao Tai (52 years old, residing in An Lac A Ward, Binh Tan District, Ho Chi Minh City), grandson of King Thanh Thai, was able to return to the ancient capital of Hue to visit the relic complex, especially to attend the death anniversary of his grandfather and some Nguyen Dynasty kings.
Mr. Bao Tai is the youngest son of Prince Nguyen Phuoc Vinh Giu - one of nine children of former Emperor Thanh Thai and Princess Chi Lac. King Thanh Thai (1879 - 1954) ascended the throne in 1889, the 10th king of the 13 Nguyen Dynasty kings. Due to his anti-French ideology, he was dethroned by the French colonialists (in 1907) and exiled to Reunion Island - a French colony at that time.
31 years after exile, in 1947, former emperor Thanh Thai was allowed to return to Vietnam, but had to live in Vung Tau; the princes had to disperse to live in many places, including prince Vinh Giu living in Can Tho.
After his death, Mr. Giu was brought back to Hue for burial 9 years ago, but Mr. Bao Tai himself has never had the opportunity to visit his father's grave.
Not long ago, the Hue Monuments Conservation Center learned that Mr. Bao Tai's family situation was quite difficult, especially since Mr. Tai was renting a room in Ho Chi Minh City, driving a motorbike with his wife to treat his daughter who had polio, so they decided to sponsor this prince to have the opportunity to visit the ancient capital again on the occasion of the anniversary of the death of kings Duc Duc, Thanh Thai and Duy Tan.
Here are some pictures of this prince with special circumstances returning to visit his ancestors, attending the death anniversary ceremony of his grandfathers and descendants of the Nguyen Phuoc clan on the morning of March 24.
