Nearly 700 billion VND flyover to eliminate traffic jam black spot in Hai Phong is about to be completed

TPO - After 13 months of construction, the grade-separated intersection (overpass and traffic intersection under the overpass) at the intersection of Ton Duc Thang - Mang Nuoc - National Highway 5 (An Duong district, Hai Phong city) is gradually emerging and being completed. The completed project will solve the black spot of traffic congestion on National Highway 5 and connect trade between An Duong district and the central district of Hong Bang.

The investment project to build a grade-separated intersection (intersection with overpass) at the intersection of Ton Duc Thang - Mang Nuoc - National Highway 5, in An Duong district (Hai Phong city) was started in January 2023, with a total investment of more than 688 billion VND.

Hai Phong City People's Committee assigned the Management Board of Traffic Construction Investment Projects to be the investor. The project includes the construction of a 787m-long overpass along National Highway 5, through An Dong Commune (An Duong, Hai Phong) and a traffic intersection under the bridge by a roundabout with 4 branches of roads connecting both sides of the bridge and roads to the South Binh Bridge intersection, Ton Duc Thang Street, the road connecting Ring Road 2 and Mang Nuoc Street.

After 13 months of construction, the overpass has been basically completed. Contractors have completed 60/60 bored piles, 300/300 prestressed concrete piles, and 7 pier bases.

After the Lunar New Year, hundreds of workers were mobilized to return to the construction site to construct the retaining wall behind the abutment, the abutment body, and the bridge span structure. It is expected that these items will be completed by March and April to complete the bridge construction.

The cable-stayed bridge has been pulled, and workers are completing auxiliary and finishing items.

According to the Hai Phong Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, the project has completed about 70% of the work. However, currently, there are 4 households that have not accepted the compensation plan for site clearance, causing difficulties in the construction of the service road. According to the reporter's records, Highway 5 through Le Chan District, An Duong District is always congested with containers and other vehicles during morning and afternoon rush hours. During the construction process, contractors diverted traffic, but the large volume of trucks passing through caused this route to be congested day and night.

Trucks and containers move in a row on the national highway, passing through the project under construction at noon.

This intersection is a key project of Hai Phong city, the traffic connection center between An Duong district and Hong Bang district; the vital traffic route for vehicles from National Highway 5 to the ports and vice versa. When completed, this intersection will help prevent congestion of containers and trucks, reduce the risk of accidents; and at the same time, it will be a bridge to develop the urban area of ​​An Duong district with Hong Bang district.
