On the afternoon of July 11, Song Tu Tay Island Infirmary, Truong Sa Special Zone, Khanh Hoa Province received and provided emergency care to a fisherman who suffered serious injuries due to a work accident while working at sea.

The victim was Mr. Bui Van Tra, born in 1978, residing in Ly Son special zone, Quang Ngai province, a crew member of fishing boat QNg 96093-TS, captained by Mr. Nguyen Chi Thanh, from the same hometown.

Previously, at noon on July 11, while fishing, Mr. Tra accidentally slipped and fell from a height of about 3m, hitting his back hard on the side of the ship and falling into the sea. The strong impact caused Mr. Tra severe pain in his lower back, showing signs of difficulty moving and suspected muscle and bone damage. He was then rescued by the crew and brought back onto the ship.

At 2:15 p.m. the same day, fishing boat QNg 96093-TS transported the victim to Song Tu Tay Island Infirmary in a state of severe pain in the left lumbar region, limited mobility, and mental fatigue.

Through examination, military doctors from Brigade 146, Naval Region 4 diagnosed Mr. Tra with a serious soft tissue injury in the left lumbar region, requiring close monitoring of internal and urinary complications.

Doctors and nurses have implemented emergency measures including: intravenous fluids, pain relief, anti-edema, muscle relaxation, while closely monitoring the patient's abdominal and excretory system and preparing further treatment plans if there are any negative changes. Currently, fisherman Bui Van Tra's health condition has temporarily stabilized, and he is receiving intensive medical care at the island's infirmary.

Since the beginning of the year, medical centers and infirmaries on the islands of Truong Sa special zone have received and actively treated dozens of cases of fishermen who suddenly fell ill, had work accidents or food poisoning while fishing in Truong Sa fishing grounds.

This shows the important role of the military medical force on the outpost islands in promptly responding to emergency situations at sea, contributing to protecting the health and lives of fishermen in the open sea, while demonstrating the sense of responsibility and affection of officers and soldiers of the Vietnam People's Navy towards fishermen when participating in offshore fishing./.
