At the ceremony, three doctors Ly Bao Duy, Phan Duy Tung and Hoang Quoc Anh shared their feelings, thoughts and motivations that made them volunteer to participate in this meaningful program.
Each person has their own story, but they all share the same spirit: dedicating their youth, expertise and passion to improving the quality of healthcare for people in remote lands, far from the mainland.

Three stories, one common goal
Sharing with Dan Tri, Dr. Ly Bao Duy, Department of Thoracic Surgery - Goiter, Binh Dan Hospital, said he volunteered to work in Con Dao after hearing about the medical support program, even though he had never set foot in this land before.
For him, this is not only a professional task but also an opportunity to bring his knowledge and passion to people in the farthest places of Ho Chi Minh City.

"A month is not too long but not short either, enough for me and my colleagues to make our best efforts and make practical contributions to Con Dao healthcare.
Con Dao is a place where people need a lot of medical support, and I want to contribute to improving the quality of medical examination and treatment, bringing peace of mind to them," said Dr. Duy.
Unlike Dr. Duy, MSc. Dr. Hoang Quoc Anh, Department of Lower Limbs, Orthopedic Trauma Hospital, said he had the opportunity to visit Con Dao on a previous business trip.

The interactions with the people and listening to their stories left him with many deep emotions. The doctor realized that primary health care is not only a place for primary health care, but also a pillar of people's trust in the health system.
Doctor Hoang Quoc Anh shared that Con Dao is a remote area with great medical needs. His previous experience helped him understand the difficulties people face when accessing medical examination and treatment services.
“Therefore, when I learned about this program, I proactively registered to participate, bringing knowledge and advanced diagnostic and treatment methods to the grassroots level. I hope that, with the support of my colleagues, we will create a clear change in health care in Con Dao,” Dr. Quoc Anh emphasized.
For him, participating in the program is not only a professional duty, but also a way to strengthen people's trust in the health sector, while contributing to building a stronger grassroots health system.

With 8 years of experience, Master, Doctor Phan Duy Tung, Department of General Internal Medicine, Gia Dinh People's Hospital, is also one of the enthusiastic young doctors who volunteered to work in Con Dao this time.
For Dr. Tung, this is an opportunity for him to explore and experience new environments as well as bring value to the community.
"This is an opportunity for me to experience and use my youth to help people," Dr. Tung shared.
"New vitality" for Con Dao
At the launching ceremony of the first working session at the Con Dao Military-Civilian Medical Center, Associate Professor, Dr. Tang Chi Thuong, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, shared his vision and expectations for the doctor rotation program.
Mr. Tang Chi Thuong affirmed that the Ho Chi Minh City health sector always aims to shorten the gap in health service access between the city and remote areas such as Binh Duong, Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Con Dao.

From September 3 to September 30, 7 specialists in the following specialties: obstetrics, surgery, anesthesia, resuscitation, pediatrics, internal medicine, trauma and orthopedics, and dialysis from Hung Vuong Hospital, Binh Dan Hospital, Children's Hospital 1, Gia Dinh People's Hospital, Trauma and Orthopedics Hospital, and Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital will come to Con Dao and will directly examine and treat patients in Con Dao.
"These doctors are all highly qualified, graduated from residency, have masters and doctors, ensuring the best medical quality. Each doctor is assigned the task of transferring techniques, along with a support mechanism from the host hospital.
Although they belong to different specialties, the doctors will work in a team spirit. The rotating group of doctors will keep in touch with the host hospital and report online weekly to the leaders of the Department of Health and functional departments to promptly grasp and supplement necessary professional issues in Con Dao," said Mr. Thuong.
The Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health hopes that these efforts will bring "new vitality" to the people of Con Dao, especially pregnant women who no longer have to go to the mainland to give birth.
The Department of Health has implemented many initiatives such as installing a rotating program information board at the Con Dao Military-Civilian Medical Center; establishing a blood bank coordinated by Hung Vuong Hospital; installing a kidney dialysis machine at the Medical Center, helping dialysis patients feel secure when traveling.
Sharing more, Mr. Thuong said that currently, the number of doctors registered to volunteer is enough for 2026. The Department of Health will continue to evaluate to ensure there are always specialized doctors in Con Dao until the locality builds a general hospital with a permanent team.
In subsequent phases, the program will be expanded with the participation of other end-line hospitals.
At the same time, the Department of Health is implementing plans to apply artificial intelligence (AI) to support image diagnosis, supplement on-site human resource training, promote digital transformation and build a model for public health management in Con Dao.
