Program " Bac Lieu follows the heroes" of Bac Lieu Student Union at Tay Do University.
“This is my hometown Minh Hai. Green fields stretch as far as the birds can fly. Mangroves stretch far away. Green cajuput trees give off a gentle fragrance. Green forests of Ca Mau cape. Green fields of white salt of Bac Lieu”. When the melody of the song “On the homeland of Minh Hai” by musician Phan Nhan was played at the Turtle Hall, Can Tho University, both the delegates and thousands of audiences from Bac Lieu and Ca Mau could not hide their emotions. Warm hometown affection in a meaningful cultural program.
The 2nd "Compatriotic Love in the Western Capital" art contest in 2025 was organized by the Bac Lieu - Ca Mau Association in Can Tho City in coordination with the Student Association of Can Tho University and the Student Associations of Bac Lieu and Ca Mau. 11 students from Bac Lieu and Ca Mau universities in Can Tho City and Cuu Long University (Vinh Long), Vo Truong Toan University (Hau Giang) brought 22 entries. Nguyen Duy Kha, from Ngoc Hien district, Ca Mau province, currently a student at Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy, shared: "This is the first time I have participated in the contest and I feel very happy. I am even happier when I get to sing about my hometown". Vo Thi Huyen Tran, from Hong Dan district, Bac Lieu province, a student at Nam Can Tho University, said that it was meaningful for fellow students to meet in Tay Do through this program. Tran participated in the contest for the second time and is also an outstanding artist of the Bac Lieu Student Union at Nam Can Tho University.
Mr. Trang Tuan Kiet, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of the contest, said: The art contest "Compatriotic love in the Western Capital" has become a regular activity, creating a playground for students studying in Can Tho City and some neighboring schools. Indeed, this year, more than 1,000 students participated, showing the development of the cultural and artistic movement in schools in Can Tho City. Nearly 1,500 students packed the Turtle Hall, many students from other localities also came to watch and cheer enthusiastically, proving the program's influence.
From this playground, Bac Lieu and Ca Mau students at universities have more motivation to maintain and improve the quality of Arts Clubs and LCHSV activities... Nguyen Hy Vong, from Cai Nuoc district, Ca Mau province, a student at Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy, said: "LCHSV Bac Lieu at the school always has many rich activities, helping us to demonstrate our skills, talents, and satisfy our passion".
According to Mr. Bui Vu Phuong, Chairman of the Bac Lieu - Ca Mau Association in Can Tho City, in recent years, the association has maximized the spirit of solidarity and the ability of its members in each field, aiming to unite fellow countrymen and make a mark on the land of Can Tho, "a land where birds nest". There are many meaningful activities such as business coffee, supporting students, fellow countrymen in difficult circumstances, cultural and artistic activities, social security, etc. The mark of the activities in Can Tho City is very clear, contributing to enriching the cultural and spiritual life of this land, towards the community. In particular, on this occasion, the association also launched the Bac Lieu - Ca Mau Student Club in Can Tho City, building a bridge connecting students and young intellectuals in the city. In the near future, many activities to support students' study, employment, and start-ups will be implemented so that the children of Bac Lieu and Ca Mau can affirm their mark in the land of Tay Do.
