Can Tho supports 5 million/month for officials working far away

(Chinhphu.vn) - On the afternoon of August 29, the People's Council of Can Tho City passed a resolution regulating support policies for officials, civil servants, and public employees of Soc Trang and Hau Giang provinces (old) to work at the Can Tho City Administrative Center after the administrative unit arrangement for 2 years.

At the meeting, the People's Council of Can Tho City discussed and approved many important resolutions of the City such as tasks and solutions for socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security in the last 6 months of 2025; regulations on decentralization of revenue sources, expenditure tasks, percentages (%) for revenue divided between budgets at all levels in the city; regulations on the authority to decide and approve tasks and budget estimates for purchasing, repairing, renovating, upgrading assets and equipment; renting goods and services; repairing, renovating, upgrading, expanding, and constructing new construction items in invested construction projects...

In particular, through the Resolution, stipulating policies to support cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers of Soc Trang province (old) and Hau Giang province (old) to work at the Can Tho City Administrative Center after the administrative unit arrangement.

Accordingly, the subjects of this resolution are cadres, civil servants, public employees, and workers working at Party, State, Fatherland Front agencies, socio-political organizations, public service units, and people working at mass organizations assigned by the Party and State at the provincial level in Soc Trang and Hau Giang provinces (old) to work at the Can Tho City Administrative Center according to the organization's mobilization and assignment.

The total support level is 5 million VND/person/month, including support for travel expenses (1 million VND), food expenses (2 million VND), and accommodation expenses (2 million VND).

For officials who are provided with shuttle buses and official housing, they will only receive a meal allowance of VND2 million; while officials residing in the old Ninh Kieu district (now the 4 wards of Tan An, Ninh Kieu, Cai Khe, An Binh of the new Can Tho city) will only receive a meal allowance and a travel allowance of VND3 million (no accommodation allowance). The implementation period of this support policy is 24 months, from July 2025 to June 2027.

According to the report of Can Tho City People's Committee, there are 2,326 people who benefit from the above support policy, with a total support budget of more than 279 billion VND in 24 months.

In his closing speech, Mr. Dong Van Thanh, Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Can Tho City requested the City People's Committee, sectors and localities to immediately implement the Resolutions just passed by the City People's Council; urgently arrange funds and guide the implementation of policies to support cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers of Soc Trang province (old) and Hau Giang province (old) to work at the Can Tho City Administrative Center after the administrative unit arrangement.

Review, adjust and supplement the planning of Can Tho City for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, and submit it to competent authorities for consideration and decision. At the same time, proactively remove difficulties, promote socio-economic development; promote administrative reform; build a professional, modern, service-oriented administration, taking the satisfaction of people and businesses as a measure of management quality.
