On June 4, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Tea Banh called on the international community to join efforts to end the conflict in Ukraine.

Speaking at the Shangri-La Dialogue , an Asian security forum, in Singapore, Minister Tea Banh said: “Cambodia supports all initiatives that provide a political solution to end this conflict, such as the 12-point plan proposed by China.”

He said Cambodia called on Russia and Ukraine to stop fighting and focus on finding ways to resolve the conflict peacefully .

"To end the conflict, there needs to be a joint effort by all parties, including stopping the use of force to resolve the issue and respecting international law," said Minister Tea Banh.

Minister Tea Banh also said that Cambodia is ready to continue providing humanitarian assistance to Ukraine in mine clearance work on its territory.

Earlier this year, Cambodia trained 15 Ukrainian mine clearance workers following a commitment made by Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen at the ASEAN Summit held in Phnom Penh in November 2022.

Previously, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin has been, is and will be open to any channels of contact regarding goals in Ukraine through peaceful means.

However, according to Mr. Peskov, the West does not offer any other options to resolve the conflict in Ukraine other than on the battlefield.

Earlier, when answering the question whether Moscow was ready to negotiate with any representatives of the current Kiev government, Mr. Peskov expressed doubts about this. He explained that Ukrainian law prohibits any negotiations with the Russian government.

In a related development, on the same day, June 3, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry rejected the peace proposal put forward by Indonesia as well as the proposal for a ceasefire and the establishment of a demilitarized zone (similar to the model in North Korea and South Korea) between Russia and Ukraine, supervised by a United Nations peacekeeping force.

This proposal was made by Indonesian Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto within the framework of the 20th Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore, with the participation of defense ministers of many countries, including Ukraine and the US./.
