According to the Korea JoongAng Daily , Ms. Sagong Hye-ran gave birth to five babies, three boys and two girls, on September 20 at Seoul St. Mary's Hospital.

This is the first naturally conceived quintuplets in Korea. The previous two quintuplets, in 1987 and 2021, were both conceived through fertilization. Ms. Sagong conceived after receiving ovulation-stimulating injections.

The due date was in December, but specialists recommended an early birth due to the mother showing signs of pregnancy poisoning.

The babies were born at 27 weeks after a complicated caesarean section. The first baby, born at 11:37 a.m., was a boy and the last baby, born at 11:43 a.m., was a girl. The babies weighed between 736 and 969 grams. The five newborns were immediately taken to the intensive care unit.

It is known that Ms. Sagong and her husband Kim Joon-yeong both work inthe education sector in Dongducheon city, 39 km north of the capital Seoul.

According to Dongducheon City's birth promotion policy, each family receives 1 million won (about 749 USD) for the birth of their first child, 1.5 million won (over 1.1 thousand USD) for the second child, 2.5 million won (nearly 1.9 thousand USD) for the third child, and 5 million won (over 3.7 thousand USD) for the fourth child.

Thus, you will receive 15 million won (more than 11 thousand USD) after giving birth to five children.

They also received 14 million won (over 10.4 thousand USD) in support, including 2 million won (nearly 1.5 thousand USD) for the first child, 3 million won (over 2.2 thousand USD) per child for the second child and beyond according to the Korean Government 's birth promotion policy.

In addition, Mr. Kim and his wife also received a postpartum care allowance of 1 million won from the Dongducheon city government and 2.5 million won from the Gyeonggi provincial government.

Thus, if you count the benefits including medical support during pregnancy and after giving birth, the national tuition support for children, and a bonus from your workplace, your family can receive more than 170 million won (3.13 billion VND).

The South Korean government, as well as companies and businesses, often offer millions of won in support packages as a way to encourage people to have children, in the context of the country's seriously aging population.
