LAND RICH IN TRADITION
Thanh Tung is an ancient land with a long history, closely associated with the formation and development of the traditional Thanh Chuong land; it is the hometown of famous scholars such as Pho Bang Nguyen Lam Tuan, Doctor Nguyen Lam Thai, Doctor Pham Kinh Vi and many revolutionaries, many intellectuals, notably Mr. Vo Quy Huan - an overseas Vietnamese intellectual invited by Uncle Ho to return to the country and became the founder of the Vietnamese metallurgy industry, a person with many great contributions to the nation...
Before the August Revolution, Thanh Tung belonged to Tho Hao commune, then Bich Hao, Bich Trieu. Here, from the end of December 1930, the Thanh Chuong General Committee established the first four party cells operating in the area of Thanh Tung - Thanh Giang today, including Cuong Son cell, Kim Son cell, Yen Thanh cell and Thanh Son cell. These cells directly led the movement to fight against the tyrants and French colonialists during the Soviet - Nghe Tinh high tide and the struggle to seize power in 1945.
Since the Party was born and led the revolution, many outstanding children of Thanh Tung land have awakened and stood in the vanguard. Under the leadership of the two Party cells of Cuong Son, Yen Thanh and the General Committee, the people of My Son, Cuong Son, Nhan Thanh, Yen Khanh villages... rose up together to fight against feudal imperialism. Under the command of the Party organization, Party members and patriots such as Nguyen Lam Hieu, Phan Hieu, Phan Ba Lac,... the people of Thanh Tung bravely demonstrated and fought, "destroying the enemy, eliminating evil". Not long after the Soviet government was established, the enemy concentrated its forces to suppress and terrorize, but the communists and the people still fought steadfastly and sacrificed. A small countryside (by 1954 Thanh Tung commune had only 2,513 people) had 36 people arrested, 16 martyrs (of which 12 were imprisoned from 1 year to life, 17 were shot, beheaded). In addition, dozens of houses were burned, robbed, and vandalized, which partly spoke of the indomitable spirit of a countryside...
After the August Revolution, after 2 separations and name changes, on April 17, 1954, the Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial Administrative Resistance Committee decided to divide the administrative units, Tan Dan commune was divided into 3 communes and the name Thanh Tung commune was officially born until today.
Since the establishment of the commune until now, in each historical period with different revolutionary tasks, the Party Committee and people of Thanh Tung have always stood shoulder to shoulder with the entire Party, the entire army, and the entire people of the whole country to successfully carry out many national revolutions. During the two long resistance wars of the nation, thousands of Thanh Tung commune's children set out to defend the Fatherland, performing various tasks such as participating in the youth volunteer force, frontline laborers, and directly fighting on the battlefields... Hundreds of Thanh Tung's children have fallen, leaving behind a part of their bodies on the battlefields, contributing to the glorious victories of the homeland. The names of people, places, and places such as Dong Ven, Cua Dinh, Con Chua, Eo Vang, Cua Chan, Phuong Hoang, Con Song, Cho Chuoi, Bai Gia have marked the heroic struggles and also the pain and loss of Thanh Tung's army and people in the revolutionary movement.
The revolutionary tradition has fostered the will, becoming the endogenous strength for the Party Committee, government and people of Thanh Tung commune to be self-reliant, self-reliant, overcome the consequences of the war, build and develop the homeland to become increasingly prosperous.
EFFORTS TO OVERCOME DIFFICULTIES TO BUILD NEW RURAL AREAS
As a locality with vast natural conditions, sparse population, mountainous and low-lying terrain, drought before sun, flooding before rain, Thanh Tung is one of the most difficult communes of Thanh Chuong district, a commune of the difficult land of Bich Hao...
In early 2020, while many communes in Thanh Chuong district have completed the new rural area and built advanced new rural areas, Thanh Tung commune is still facing many difficulties. The whole commune does not have any concrete roads within the hamlet, the system of schools and medical stations are all dilapidated and degraded; the communal People's Committee hall and other cultural institutions built decades ago are seriously degraded; criteria such as environment, income, health care,education , cultural facilities... are not met.
This is truly a heavy task because the commune's starting point is too low; people's lives still face many difficulties. Natural disasters and epidemics occur frequently. Every year, Thanh Tung suffers from 2-3 floods and many droughts... In the commune, there is not a single business located.
The Resolution of the Thanh Tung Commune Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term sets the goal of striving to reach the NTM target in 2024. However, with the high determination of the Party Committee, government and people, with the close direction of the District Party Committee, People's Committee and departments of the district, and the support of the Provincial New Rural Program Coordination Office, Thanh Tung has boldly adjusted the target, determined to bring the commune to the NTM target in 2023.
Faced with such difficulties, the Party Committee and the people of Thanh Tung commune must find a direction and approach suitable to their own characteristics in the direction of doing the easy first, doing the difficult later, concentrating on sustainably completing each criterion.... Mr. Phan Van Dung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thanh Tung commune, said that when starting to build a new countryside, the commune reviewed and proposed specific solutions and approaches, assigning specific tasks to each responsible officer. "Thanh Tung commune focuses on 3 resources: First is to maximize the mechanisms and policies of the Party, the State, the province, and the district to attract works and projects. Second is to promote the internal strength of the people, mobilize people to donate land, trees, contribute working days and money according to the motto that both the State and the people work together. Third, apply and call for the support of Thanh Tung commune's children far from home with practical actions, contributing to the renewal of the commune....", Mr. Phan Van Dung affirmed.
With appropriate methods, solidarity and consensus of the people, the construction of new rural areas in Thanh Tung quickly achieved positive results. In just a short time, Thanh Tung mobilized more than 81 billion VND to build new rural areas, of which the central budget was more than 6.6 billion VND; the provincial budget was more than 21.7 billion VND, the district budget was more than 28.7 billion VND, the commune budget was 8.7 billion VND....
Thanh Tung determined that the subject in building new rural areas is the people, the people are the beneficiaries and also the ones who directly participate in the process of building new rural areas. With that viewpoint, the commune has mobilized the strength of the entire people in the process of building new rural areas. The people of the commune have contributed 15.4 billion VND along with thousands of working days, donated thousands of meters of land to open roads...
During that process, many Thanh Tung's children far from home turned to their homeland with practical actions such as Mr. Le Hung contributed more than 600 million VND; Mr. Tran Thuc Linh more than 200 million VND; Mr. Vo Van Tuu more than 150 million VND, Pham Duc Hoan more than 100 million VND... and many other children contributed their efforts and money for the development of their homeland.
With the motto of the state and the people working together, the state supporting cement, the people contributing, Thanh Tung has quickly covered more than 23km of inter-village roads with concrete, 12.2km of alleys, and asphalted 7.2km of inter-commune roads. From a place where there was no concrete road, up to now, 100% of village roads and alleys in Thanh Tung have been hardened according to standards. The intra-field traffic and irrigation systems have been upgraded, meeting the needs of agricultural production towards industrialization and modernization.
In Thanh Tung commune, many bright economic spots have also appeared, many good models are being replicated such as industrial tea planting associated with deep processing; farm models, family farms, forest gardens... In 2023, the average income per capita of the commune reached 48,783 million VND. The whole commune no longer has any families living in temporary houses or thatched houses; the poverty rate is 5.24%. Religious people unite, join hands and work together to build their homeland to become increasingly prosperous.
The economy has developed, and the spiritual life of the people has also been improved. The commune has completed the system of cultural houses, stadiums, sports fields; and playgrounds to meet the cultural and sports needs of the people. The school system at 3 levels in Thanh Tung commune has been invested in upgrading in conjunction with improving the quality of comprehensive education. Currently, all three kindergartens, primary schools, and secondary schools in the commune have met the standards; the health station has met national standards; 100% of hamlets and agencies have met cultural standards... The security and order situation is ensured, there have been no outstanding incidents in the commune, and Thanh Tung commune police have achieved the title of Victory Unit of the police force;...
With the efforts, solidarity and cooperation of the government and people, by the end of 2023, Thanh Tung commune had met 19 criteria and was recognized by the Provincial People's Committee as reaching the goal of building a new countryside in 2023. This is truly a joy and pride for the Party Committee, government and people of Thanh Tung commune, and a driving force for Thanh Tung to rise up. This joy is even greater and more meaningful when on this occasion, the Party Committee, government and people of Thanh Tung commune organized the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the commune's founding.
Mr. Tran Hung Mau - Secretary of Thanh Tung Commune Party Committee affirmed: "The process of building new rural areas in Thanh Tung is a continuous process, with a starting point and no ending point, with the goal of bringing happiness to the people and developing the commune comprehensively. As soon as the new rural area is completed, Thanh Tung Commune will continue to build an advanced new rural area with higher and more sustainable goals."
Proud of tradition, looking towards the future, with the spirit of solidarity, creativity, daring to think, daring to do, with high determination, the Party Committee, government and people of Thanh Tung commune will turn difficulties into internal strength, build Thanh Tung homeland increasingly rich and beautiful, become a livable countryside, a bright spot, a pride of the heroic land of Thanh Chuong.
