At noon on July 15, the People's Committee of Hoa Xuan Ward (Da Nang City) announced the results after taking samples to test the red-colored vermicelli incident to the Da Nang City Food Safety Management Board.
According to the report, after taking samples for testing, the authorities determined that no borax or any other toxic chemicals were detected in the vermicelli samples. The microbiological indicators were within the permissible levels and did not affect the health of the users.
The reason why vermicelli turns red is determined to be due to the growth of microorganisms when the product is exposed to the outside environment. In this case, the discoloration phenomenon occurs mainly due to poor storage conditions, creating a favorable environment for microorganisms to grow.
Previously, as Tuoi Tre Online reported, on the morning of July 6, a family in Da Nang went to Hoa Chau market to buy 15,000 VND worth of fresh noodles to eat and left some noodles for their son.
By about 9pm the same day, the noodles turned pink and red, and the next morning all the noodles turned red.
Through verification from the complainant, the family bought noodles from a retailer. This retailer said they got noodles from Mr. H.'s business on Tran Van Can street to sell and Mr. H. also confirmed this.
The authorities inspected the business household and determined that the establishment had a HM business household certificate in Mr. H's name and a health certificate.
However, the food safety certificate of the facility has expired. The People's Committee of Hoa Xuan Ward, Da Nang City has requested the vermicelli production facility to temporarily stop production.
After that, many people in Da Nang also said that they had experienced the same situation of vermicelli changing color as the above case.
