Vietnam U21 Women's Volleyball Team Enters Round of 16 in First Time Attending World Championship

After only 3 days of competition, the Vietnam U21 women's volleyball team has successfully won the right to participate in the round of 16 strongest teams.

On the afternoon of August 9, the U21 Vietnamese women's volleyball team easily defeated Canada 3-1. Notably, in set 4, they also created a huge score difference of 25-5.

This is the third victory of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team since the beginning of the tournament. Before that, they defeated U21 Indonesia (3-1) and U21 Serbia (3-1).

At the Women's U21 World Championship, the first ranking criteria is the number of wins and losses. After that, the points criteria are taken into account.

With 3 wins and no losses, U21 Argentina is leading Group A. The Vietnamese women's volleyball team has a similar record, also with 9 points. However, they are second in the group due to the ratio of the number of sets won to the number of sets lost.

On the evening of August 9, the last match of the day in Group A ended with host Indonesia losing 2-3 to Puerto Rico. The current order of Group A is: U21 Argentina (3 wins, 0 losses), U21 Vietnam (3 wins, 0 losses), U21 Indonesia (3 wins, 1 loss), U21 Serbia (3 wins, 1 loss), U21 Puerto Rico (3 wins, 1 loss), U21 Canada (0 wins, 3 losses).

The top four teams will advance to the round of 16, while the bottom two teams will enter the ranking rounds from 17 to 24.

Vietnam U21 and Argentina U21 have now secured their place in the top 4. The reason is that there are at least 2 teams below them. The first team is Canada U21, which is no longer capable of winning 3 victories with only 2 group stage matches left.

Next up will be either U21 Indonesia or U21 Serbia. These two teams will face each other in the next round. The loser will definitely only finish the group stage with a maximum of 2 wins, which means they will be behind U21 Vietnam and U21 Argentina, who have already won 3 matches.

Therefore, even if they lose both remaining matches against U21 Argentina and U21 Puerto Rico, coach Nguyen Trong Linh's team will still be in the round of 16.
