Speaking to Tien Phong , the Ministry of Education and Training said that in 2025, the total number of candidates registering for the exam will reach 852,000 with 7.6 million wishes for more than 4,000 majors and training programs of more than 400 universities and colleges nationwide.
There are about 50 million wishes on the system.
The admission regulations allow candidates to register for multiple wishes without having to choose a method or combination of admissions; the admission software system will automatically select the method or combination of admissions that is most beneficial for the candidate.
Therefore, the total number of actual admission wishes that must be considered on the system is up to over 50 million (each industry wish considered according to each method and admission combination is considered as one wish on the system), an increase of about 2 times compared to 2024.

The consistent policy of the Ministry and schools is to apply technology to solve difficulties, bringing maximum convenience and fairness to candidates. To serve the higher requirements of 2025, the general enrollment support software system (including the virtual selection and filtering system) has been upgraded. Although there was an initial overload, it was promptly resolved and completed processing, providing data to schools for timely announcement on August 22.
The Ministry of Education and Training has increased the time and number of virtual filtering times for schools to carefully review data and minimize errors. After announcing the benchmark scores, schools will need 2 to 3 days to review, correct errors, and complete the list of successful candidates, notify candidates, and update the Ministry's system to serve candidates to confirm their admission.
Thus, from August 22 to August 24, candidates who are admitted to a school will be notified of their admission by that school and can be looked up on the information portal provided by the school. For the group of schools in the North that conduct joint admissions, the announcement of the admission list will be carried out by Hanoi University of Science and Technology - the host unit under the authorization of the schools in the group. Candidates who do not receive admission notices will either be due to the school not having completed the data update, not having announced the admission list, or having errors.
From 8:00 a.m. on August 25, after most schools had uploaded their admission list data, the Ministry of Education and Training reopened the general admission support system for candidates to confirm their admission. The system operated completely stably, and by 12:00 p.m. on August 26, more than 560,000 candidates had successfully confirmed their admission (exceeding the total number of candidates admitted in the first round of 2024).
20-30 error reports/day
With such a large amount of data, along with the diverse admission methods and conditions of universities and colleges, errors are inevitable, with a very small percentage.
These errors are mainly due to errors in admission input data (admission methods, conditions, admission criteria, evidence of candidate priority, foreign language certificates, etc.), some errors are due to manual operations of some schools during the admission process.

However, due to careful preparation and experience from previous years, the number of actual errors has decreased significantly compared to 2024. The Ministry of Education and Training and universities and colleges have assigned staff to work on hotlines to receive feedback and questions from candidates and parents through many channels and coordinate to handle and resolve them immediately for the legitimate interests of candidates.
Since the evening of August 23, every day the Ministry's admissions department has received and forwarded to schools for processing about 20 to 30 complaints from candidates through all channels.
According to the admission regulations, the resolution of errors is the responsibility of the schools. If necessary, the Ministry will support, guide and direct other universities to coordinate in handling the issue. After listening to feedback on major errors of some higher education institutions, the Ministry of Education and Training has directed and provided timely guidance. Up to now, most of the errors have been resolved in accordance with regulations.
The representative of the Ministry of Education and Training affirmed that the university and college admissions in 2025 up to now have been on schedule, as required, ensuring the rights of candidates; the general admission system for the year has been operating stably; cases where information has not been accessed in the past few days are due to schools not having completed the review and completion of data; cases with errors have all been resolved promptly, in accordance with regulations; all candidates who meet the admission requirements will certainly be notified of their admission in time to enroll on time.
In case the press agency receives information or feedback about errors in the admission process that may affect the rights of candidates, it is requested to promptly provide it to the Ministry of Education and Training (Department of Higher Education) for consideration, handling, and ensuring the rights of candidates.
The Ministry will continue to listen, study and absorb feedback to have directions to adjust admission regulations, admission plans and direct universities and colleges to perform better in the coming years.
Recently, parents and candidates have reported to the press about the situation of not knowing which school they were admitted to, data of candidates stuck at schools they were not admitted to, admission scores higher than the standard score but still not admitted. However, it is noted that the cases that candidates reported were basically answered by schools and their rights were guaranteed.
