Earlier, on the morning of July 31, Border Guard officers and soldiers were cleaning the barracks at the old Tien Giang Border Guard Command headquarters (Ward 12B, Go Cong Ward, Dong Thap Province) when they discovered a strange animal hiding under a tree in the unit's grounds.
When it detected a human shadow, the strange animal panicked and ran away. After a while of organizing a siege, the soldiers captured it and discovered that it was a small-clawed otter weighing about 3.5 kg that had strayed into the unit from the wild.
Small-clawed otters are kept and cared for in cages. |
The Border Guards locked the otter in a cage to take care of it. At the same time, they contacted and completed the procedures to hand it over to the Center for Cultivation, Research and Processing of Medicinal Herbs - Military Region 9 (Dong Tam Snake Farm) for continued care.
