On the side of Binh Duong province, there were Mr. Nguyen Van Loi, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; Mr. Nguyen Van Loc, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, along with local leaders, departments and branches of the province.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Mr. Tran Chien Cong, General Director of BIWASE, shared that the groundbreaking ceremony was the result of negotiations with many partners. By December 2024, BIWASE had selected 3 main equipment suppliers for the project, major brands including: The turbine generator set category provided by SIEMENS Company of Germany; the incinerator category provided by CNIM MARTIN Company - France - India; the boiler category provided by ISGEC Company - India.
Similar to BIWASE's previous successful 5MW project, the design, architectural completion, construction, installation of all equipment, mechanics, and project operation are undertaken by BIWASE's team of engineers, officers, and workers. The project has a total investment of 45 million USD, equivalent to about 1,150 billion VND, processes 500 tons of waste/day and generates 12MW of electricity, and is the first phase of a 24MW capacity project. With the latest updated technology, the amount of ash after combustion is controlled to no more than 12%, significantly lower than the 16-17% of existing factories in Vietnam.
“By selecting equipment and machinery for the project, BIWASE has always strived to optimize the design of the waste-to-energy plant in Binh Duong, minimizing environmental impacts, ash and slag are recycled into non-landfill construction materials, in accordance with the circular economic model encouraged by the Prime Minister. We hope that this waste-to-energy plant with a burning capacity of 500 tons/day, equivalent to 12MW, will contribute to the success of self-sufficiency in waste-to-energy technology, burning waste to generate electricity with high efficiency from the lowest ash and slag efficiency in Vietnam,” said Mr. Tran Chien Cong.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Van Loc, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, said that in recent years, along with strong socio-economic development, Binh Duong province has also faced many challenges in environmental protection, especially in the treatment of domestic and industrial waste.
With a spirit of openness and decisive action, the province has clearly identified: waste treatment is not only an obligation but also an important opportunity to transform the development model towards sustainability, circulation, and environmental friendliness. Binh Duong is one of the first localities in the country to no longer bury household waste, instead, the policy is to thoroughly treat, regenerate resources, and utilize waste as raw materials for electricity production, fertilizers, construction materials, etc.
“We appreciate the efforts of environmental enterprises in the province, especially BIWASE - a pioneer with many practical projects in the field of clean water and environment. With a capacity of 500 tons of waste/day and an electricity output of 12MW, the project not only helps reduce pressure on urban environmental infrastructure but also provides green energy and contributes to realizing the green growth strategy of Binh Duong province. Reducing the ash and slag ratio after incineration to below 12% is an indicator of operational efficiency and the level of completion in choosing technological solutions. This is a very encouraging step forward, contributing to affirming the internal capacity in the field of environment and renewable energy in the locality,” said Mr. Nguyen Van Loc.
