Binh Phuoc gathers 43 martyrs' remains

On January 25, at Hoa Lu International Border Gate (Loc Ninh District, Binh Phuoc ), Steering Committee 515 of Binh Phuoc province held a ceremony to welcome the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died during the war in Cambodia, searched for and gathered back to the country by Team K72, Military Command of Binh Phuoc province.

After nearly 80 days of searching and collecting remains in the two provinces of Kratie and Kampong Thom (Kingdom of Cambodia), 50 officers and soldiers of Team K72 conducted a survey and search at 26 locations, dug an area of 24,000 m² with 5,200 holes, probed more than 8 km of trenches and discovered 9 areas with martyrs' graves. The result was the collection of 43 remains of martyrs whose identities have not been determined.

43 martyrs' remains were collected and brought back to the country.

Ms. Tran Tuyet Minh, Vice Chairwoman of Binh Phuoc Provincial People's Committee, Head of Provincial Steering Committee 515, said that since its establishment, Team K72 has searched for and collected 2,844 remains of Vietnamese martyrs and experts who died during the war in Cambodia and brought them back to Vietnam.

Ms. Minh requested that the Ministry of Military Command coordinate with the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, departments, branches and organizations to do a good job of preparing to organize a solemn memorial service and burial for the martyrs. Team K72 is preparing to continue the task of searching for and collecting the remains of martyrs in Cambodia.
