Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee has just held a conference to summarize the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the province in 2025. The program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses is a social security policy with profound humanistic meaning, so that no one is left behind.

To implement the program, in the past time, agencies and units throughout Dong Thap province have proactively advised on the implementation, actively propagated and mobilized all classes of people to join hands in implementation. All units at district, city and commune levels in Dong Thap province have established a Steering Committee to focus on closely following and directing the implementation of the program synchronously and effectively. Propaganda work has been promoted with diverse content and forms, creating a spreading effect in society.
To date, Dong Thap has completed, accepted and put into use 2,159 newly built and repaired houses (100% of the plan), 1 month ahead of schedule. Of which, households with meritorious services to the revolution were supported with 605 houses; poor and near-poor households with 1,554 houses. The total cost of implementation is more than 189 billion VND, from the state budget, socialization and family contributions.
In addition, in order to help the poor with housing difficulties "settle down", the whole Dong Thap province established 62 charity house building groups to participate in the Temporary House Elimination Program with 934 members, thereby supporting more than 6,670 working days.

Speaking at the conference, Secretary of Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee - Le Quoc Phong emphasized that the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses has created a widespread movement throughout society. Thereby, Dong Thap has completed the program earlier than planned. The initiative and flexibility of all levels, sectors and the hearts and resources from the community supporting the implementation of the program have contributed to affirming the values and building the image of Dong Thap people - "loyal, dynamic, creative".
In the coming time, Mr. Phong requested that localities hand over the lists of poor, near-poor, and disadvantaged households that have received support to remove temporary and dilapidated houses this time to new communes and wards. So that localities can continue to pay attention and support livelihoods for poor households to escape poverty, aiming to have no more poor households in the province.
Mr. Phong also noted that localities and organizations should continue to pay attention to supporting other groups with housing difficulties (in addition to policy households, poor and near-poor households). At the same time, they should carry out activities to care for the poor, people in difficult circumstances and the disadvantaged, so that no one is left behind.
