Vietnam-Cuba Dong Hoi Friendship Hospital supports the Cuban people

QTO - Responding to the call of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society, officers, civil servants and employees of the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Hospital Dong Hoi (HNVN-CBĐH) organized a donation to support the Cuban people.

Dr. Nguyen Duc Cuong, Director of the HNVN-CBĐH Hospital, said: The HNVN-CBĐH Hospital project was started in 1974 and inaugurated in 1981. It is a particularly meaningful gift from the Party, Government and People of Cuba to Quang Binh province (old) after the visit of President Fidel Castro, becoming one of the symbols of solidarity and friendship between the two countries.

The Cuban government has sent many highly qualified doctors and medical experts to Vietnam to train and transfer techniques to medical staff as well as examine and treat the people of Quang Binh. Many medical staff and doctors of the HNVN-CBĐH Hospital have studied and trained in Cuba. Since April 2018, the HNVN-CBĐH Hospital has also invited 7 Cuban medical experts to work at the unit.

“More than anyone else, the hospital’s staff, civil servants and workers appreciate and are grateful for the support that our brotherly country Cuba has given to Vietnam in general and Quang Tri in particular. Right at the launch, the unit raised 47.6 million VND and many groups and individuals have registered to continue to support. We wish to join hands with the people of the whole country to contribute a small part to help the Cuban people overcome difficulties, stabilize their lives and continue to develop,” shared Dr. Nguyen Duc Cuong.

The campaign to support the Cuban people is chaired by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society, in coordination with central departments, ministries, branches and organizations, with the theme "65 years of Vietnam - Cuba friendship", and will be implemented in 65 days of campaigning (from August 13 to October 16, 2025).
