Believing that the Law on Teachers will quickly come into effect, creating motivation for teachers in the new school year, Ms. Ho Thi Minh - National Assembly delegate of Quang Tri province - said that there are still concerns about why teachers have summer vacation.
However, this is a special profession and the Law stipulates that, in addition to teaching time, teachers have extra time off to update their knowledge and prepare to enter the new school year with more energy.
Referring to salary and recruitment policies, Ms. Ho Thi Minh said that for a long time, recruitment has been based on the staffing ratio and the increase-decrease mechanism. This time, the education sector has made a decision: "Where there are students, there must be teachers."
It is impossible to level the playing field like other industries, which reduce 10% of staff each year. The Law on Teachers has included this provision, creating initiative for the industry. "When the law is implemented, I think this will be the first issue to be improved," she said.

Having worked in the industry for 9 years, Ms. Ho Thi Minh has always been concerned about the salary system for teachers. According to her, the treatment, emulation and reward system has not been commensurate with the dedication. The year-end rewards of the education sector are much lower than in other sectors; at the grassroots level, the rewards for teachers really need more attention.
She believes that if teachers’ salaries are at the highest level, it is reasonable because they train the future generation of the country. Teachers should not be allowed to receive low salaries and work extra hours, teach extra classes or sell products online.
When the income is commensurate, the problem of extra teaching and learning will be less painful. Currently, extra teaching is not prohibited, but sometimes extra teaching for one's own students is distorted. If the salary is not guaranteed, this situation will continue and affect the quality of education.
“Teachers cannot focus on teaching when they have to earn a living from other jobs. When their livelihood is secure, managing the team will be easier. On the contrary, if we do not pay close attention, the current situation will be difficult to control,” she emphasized.
According to Ms. Ho Thi Minh, when there is a separate law, the teaching staff needs to promote the tradition of "respecting teachers and valuing education", dedicating themselves to the cause of education. "A prosperous education will make the country prosperous. Hopefully, the State will continue to pay attention and improve the regime and policies for teachers in the coming time" - she expressed.
