According to the latest report by DynaLiners (Netherlands) shipping consultancy, Ho Chi Minh City seaport is currently ranked 22nd in the world with a handling capacity of about 9.1 million containers in 2023. Hai Phong port reached 7.1 million containers, ranked 30th. Right after that is Cai Mep port cluster with nearly 7 million containers, ranked 31st.
Notably, Cai Mep is also in the group of ports with a growth rate exceeding 25%, an indicator showing strong potential for future expansion. DynaLiners Millionaires also ranked Vietnam 6th in the list of countries with large container port systems, with the total handling capacity of the three ports reaching more than 23.2 million containers, an increase of 16% compared to the level of 20.1 million containers in 2023.
In the context of increasingly vibrant international trade, the presence of three Vietnamese seaports in the Top 50 largest container ports in the world is considered an important milestone, contributing to affirming Vietnam's position on the international maritime map and opening up opportunities to attract more large shipping lines in the future.
