Dat Mui is a coastal commune, with 3 sides facing the sea, the only place in Vietnam that can see both the East Sea and the West Sea; the North borders Vien An commune, with a 34 km long coastline, 40 km from the district center. The commune was recognized as a type V urban area in 2021. The commune has a natural area of ​​14,721.69 hectares, divided into 11 hamlets, with 3,422 households and more than 13,134 people.

Mr. Vo Cong Truong, Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, said: "Since starting to implement the National Target Program on New Rural Construction, over the past 10 years, the locality has faced countless difficulties and challenges from natural conditions to limitations in infrastructure and people's lives. On June 3, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Van Su, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee for the implementation of national target programs in the province, Chairman of the Appraisal Council, recognized Dat Mui commune (Ngoc Hien district) as meeting the NTM standards in 2024. As a result, Dat Mui commune had 19/20 members present in agreement (reaching 95%). Comparing with the regulations, Dat Mui commune met the conditions to be recognized as a commune meeting the NTM standards.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Department of Agriculture and Environment to urgently coordinate with the People's Committee of Ngoc Hien district to complete the dossier and procedures in accordance with regulations, and submit them to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for consideration and recognition.
