In early May 2025, during a trip to Ha Tinh to film a TV show, actress Thanh Huong - a familiar face in prime-time dramas on VTV - unexpectedly shared her excitement about Vung Ang jumping squid. Posting a video on her personal page, she wrote: "Vung Ang jumping squid is the best in the country".

Not only Thanh Huong, more and more tourists after visiting Ha Tinh bring back a "taste memory" from the cuisine here, especially the seafood dishes that are elaborately, creatively and delicately prepared.

Actress Thanh Huong posted her feelings about Vung Ang squid on her personal Facebook page.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Van (a tourist from Hai Phong) who recently had a vacation at Thien Cam Tourist Area shared: “Beautiful seascapes and good services can be found in many places. But the cuisine, especially seafood, of Ha Tinh sea is truly different. The fish, shrimp, and squid here are fresh, fragrant, and naturally sweet. In particular, the processing methods are very diverse and attractive, and the prices are reasonable.”

This uniqueness is not accidental. Ha Tinh, with a coastline of nearly 137 km, has hundreds of restaurants and seafood eateries. Creativity in food preparation is the key to creating a unique impression and retaining customers. At Thien Cam Tourist Area, one of the most popular destinations in Ha Tinh, Phu Sang Restaurant (Song Yen Village, Thien Cam Commune), although located in a rather wild area, is always crowded with customers.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Thanh - co-owner and head chef of the restaurant shared: "Each dish is a result of our passion. We always try to bring visitors a clear feeling of the typical flavor of Ha Tinh seafood, while also taking care of the presentation to enhance the enjoyment."

This summer, Phu Sang restaurant introduces a special menu with special dishes such as: herring salad, blood cockle salad, banana flower shrimp salad, steamed grouper with five willows, grilled cockles with scallion oil, grilled lobster with cheese... Each dish is carefully calculated by chef Thanh in terms of spices, vegetable combinations, especially creating a special sauce to highlight the fresh taste of seafood.

“The most important thing in processing seafood in Ha Tinh is to preserve the natural flavor. We minimize the use of flavorings, instead finding ways to highlight the sweetness, fattiness, and crispiness of the ingredients from vegetables, tubers, fruits, and accompanying spices. Blood cockle salad is our newest dish this season, and is very popular with tourists because of its unique, refreshing, and nutritious flavor,” said chef Nguyen Duc Thanh (lecturer at Nguyen Du College, who has won many awards for culinary creativity at the provincial and national levels).

Not only Phu Sang, in Thien Cam there are currently more than 46 restaurants specializing in seafood such as: Phu Quy, Nhien Que, Bien Xanh... which are always bustling with diners. Besides researching the processing methods, the restaurants also focus on the ingredients. The main source of seafood is taken directly from local fishermen's boats, thereby always ensuring freshness and quality.

Besides Thien Cam, at other coastal tourist destinations such as Xuan Hai (Loc Ha commune), Xuan Thanh (Tien Dien commune), Ky Xuan (Ky Xuan commune), Ky Ninh (Hai Ninh ward)... restaurants are constantly innovating their menus to create unique culinary experiences for visitors.

Mr. Nguyen Van An - owner of Hai Chau restaurant in Xuan Hai beach shared: "Although after many years of business, we have accumulated a rich menu, every year, we invest to add new dishes. This summer, the shrimp salad with special sauce is the "brainchild" that we want to send to diners. Not only is it fresh and delicious, this dish also has its own flavor, difficult to mix".

For a long time, cuisine has not only contributed to enriching tourism products, but also been an important factor in "scoring points" with tourists at destinations.

Ms. Vo Thi Thu Hien - Head of Tourism Management Department (Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism) commented: “Cuisine accounts for 40% of the attractiveness of a destination. In addition to satisfying the need for food and drink, it is also a way for tourists to explore regional culture. Ha Tinh seafood is increasingly asserting its position thanks to its quality and creative, authentic processing methods. We always encourage restaurants to continue to promote this advantage to build their own brand, while creating a difference for tourism in the province”.

Ha Tinh seafood cuisine, with its abundant and rich source of ingredients and unique flavors, through the creativity of chefs at restaurants, is gradually shaping its identity, becoming a big plus in tourism activities. If well developed, Ha Tinh seafood cuisine will leave an unforgettable impression in the hearts of tourists, so that once they come to Ha Tinh, they will "want to go back wherever they go".
