(NLDO) - This treatment helps women get pregnant by combining sperm with eggs of the best quality, thereby maximizing the chance of success.

Doctors have used AI to help women get pregnant through IVF (in vitro fertilization) by matching the healthiest sperm with the best quality eggs.

Ali Al Chami, a fertility specialist in north London who performed the procedure, said it was a breakthrough in fertility care. The AI system, trained on huge data files of ultrasound images, patient health data and embryo tracking over time, is being used in some clinics to select high-quality sperm and eggs, and then embryos for fertilization and implantation.

Elena, 36, from South London, told the Sunday Express that she had become the first woman in the UK to conceive using AI technology and she believes the cutting-edge technology could change her life.

Elena found out she was pregnant in August 2024 after AI selected her husband's sperm for use. The fertilized embryos with the highest chance of producing a baby, also selected by AI, were then implanted into her uterus.

The emotional mother-to-be said what happened was extraordinary. "The technology is amazing. It's like a miracle," she said.
