This morning, August 23, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Cultural Sector's Traditional Day (August 28, 1945 - August 28, 2025) at the Hanoi Opera House - where nearly 8 decades ago, President Ho Chi Minh chaired the first National Cultural Conference, opening up the strategic vision "Culture must light the way for the nation to go."

During the great festival of the Cultural sector, General Secretary To Lam, along with Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the Celebration Ceremony.

"Cultural army" makes the country shine

General Secretary To Lam , who is particularly interested in culture and cultural cadres, argued: " The Party's cultural army, the core factor that creates the new cultural strength and depth, promotes the process of forming and developing the socialist-oriented cultural industry, constantly nurturing the spiritual life of the masses, contributing to the enrichment of the nation's long-standing and unique culture, making the country shine. "

During eight decades of construction and development, the Cultural Sector has accompanied the nation through all stages of history, writing a proud journey, serving the country, serving the people, for the goal of independence, freedom and socialism.

Therefore, the 80th Anniversary of the Industry's Traditional Day is a moment for everyone to look back at the achievements and outstanding marks throughout the past journey, thereby affirming the special role and position of culture in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, as well as in the aspiration to develop a prosperous and happy country in the new era.

History has recorded that 80 years ago, on August 28, 1945, President Ho Chi Minh signed the Proclamation establishing a provisional government consisting of 13 ministries, including the Ministry of Information and Propaganda, the predecessor of the current Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The 80-year journey of the Culture sector has created an epic with many emotional levels: Culture has nurtured the soul and identity, from the heroic music of the resistance culture to the confident dances of integrated sports with aspirations to reach high, with the footsteps of tourism bringing the country to the world and the press becoming the conduit of knowledge connecting the trust between the Party and the People.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung emphasized: “The awareness of the position and role of culture in the sustainable development of the country is increasingly comprehensive and profound; culture is present in most of the Resolutions, Strategies and Plans for socio-economic development of the country. The whole sector has strongly transformed its thinking from 'doing culture' to 'state management of culture', approaching the direction of cultural development management. A special highlight is that the National Assembly has approved the National Target Program on Cultural Development 2025 - 2035.”

Today, heritage is preserved, conserved and promoted as an important asset and resource of the country. The cultural industry has shaped many creative directions, gradually professionalized, contributing increasingly to economic growth. Cultural diplomacy has shifted from "exchange and meeting" to "substantive cooperation," enhancing the country's soft power in the international arena; mass sports have developed extensively, high-performance sports have affirmed their position, and made many important strides in regional and international arenas.

Recognizing the contributions of the Culture sector, At today's Celebration Ceremony, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism was honored to receive the First Class Labor Medal.

Let's "look back to move forward"

In the cultural field, the staff is very diverse, from artists, teachers, actors, to scientists, managers... Present at the Celebration Ceremony, Former Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho Anh Tuan shared: "In the past, many generations of cultural staff after retiring have become consultants, experts, and have participated in associations, clubs, and councils on cultural heritage, art, fine arts, ethnic culture, corporate culture, cultural industry, promotion and development of Vietnamese cinema, and development of community culture..."

“They both connect and continue to create as the mission of cultural workers, keeping the flame of their profession alive, but at the same time it is a spreading, sharing responsibility, and companionship,” said Mr. Ho Anh Tuan.

Representing the young generation of artists today, singer Nguyen Thi Ngoc Ha (Ha Myo) expressed: “We, the young generation of artists today, deeply feel the continuity between the past, present and future. If the predecessors have sown the seeds and nurtured a culture rich in identity, then the younger generation will be the ones to follow, nurture and develop it to new heights.”

Previous generations have added faith and aspiration for young artists to find their own unique identity and strong love for art. Therefore, singer Ngoc Ha understands that the mission of her generation is not simply to stand on stage to spread musical melodies, but more importantly, to tell the story of the cultural heritage left by their ancestors in a newer, more modern way.

“We pledge to use our youth, creativity, love for our country and our profession so that each song, each work, each medal… always carries within it the depth of our identity, the length of history, and the crystallization of the quintessence of humanity,” the female singer shared.

With the spirit of “looking back to move forward,” industry leaders believe that the road ahead has many advantages but also many difficulties and challenges. Globalization and integration open up opportunities, but the risk of cultural identity fading is also very real. The application of technology and digital transformation in the cultural sector is still slow, and the industry’s high-quality human resources still face difficulties.

Therefore, Minister Nguyen Van Hung emphasized that more than ever, the entire industry must have solutions to overcome these "bottlenecks", and at the same time must "keep the rhythm" and create a " new rhythm": " Keeping the rhythm" means maintaining core values, keeping the flow of national culture from losing its direction, maintaining stability in organization, belief, and morality. " Creating a new rhythm" means promoting courage, creating new momentum for development, creating a creative flow in leadership thinking, creating creative breakthroughs in the fields that the Ministry and industry are managing and administering./.
