Experts warn that by exploiting vulnerabilities, hackers can deploy widespread virus infection campaigns, thereby remotely taking control of devices, collecting and encrypting data, downloading and executing other viruses.

This vulnerability has been patched since February this year, but according to Bkav statistics, nearly 4 million Vietnamese computers are still at risk of being attacked by viruses because they have not been patched. In response to this situation, Bkav said that this unit has just released a free tool to help scan for vulnerabilities and provide update instructions.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Dat, General Director of Bkav's Malware Research Center, said: "These types of vulnerabilities are always attractive to hackers because they exist on popular text files. Meanwhile, with devices that do not have automatic update mode enabled, updating patches is not simple, not everyone can do it."

“Bkav has now released a free tool to help users quickly check whether their computers are vulnerable or not, and also provide instructions on updating the patch right on the website. Users do not need to install it but can launch it right away with this toolkit,” Mr. Dat shared.
