The Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha has just sent a document to the Executive Committees of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in provinces and cities; pagodas and monasteries nationwide about ringing the bell and drum three times to pray for national peace and prosperity on the morning of July 1, 2025.

According to the document, July 1, 2025 is the first day of operation of the new provinces and cities after the merger and operation of the 2-level local government model nationwide.

This is an extremely special historical event in the process of the nation entering a new era of prosperous development.

With the tradition of Buddhism accompanying the nation in every historical journey, the Standing Committee of the Board of Trustees proposes that the Executive Committees of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of provinces and cities; lords, and monasteries nationwide celebrate three bells and drums of the Heart Sutra to pray for national peace and prosperity, chant sutras and take a spiritual holiday to pray for peace, arouse the strength of national unity, the sacred soul of the mountains and rivers of Vietnam.

From 6:00 a.m. on July 1, 2025, 18,491 pagodas will celebrate simultaneously across the country.
