The Department ofEducation and Training of Bac Giang issued Official Dispatch No. 962 dated May 15, 2025, directing the entire sector to strictly implement the Law on Prevention and Control of Tobacco Harms.
The directive focuses on implementing the Law in conjunction with the National Strategy to 2030, strengthening control over students using e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products - products that are on the rise among school-age children. Educational institutions have actively included tobacco prevention and control in their school year plans, integrated them into extracurricular activities, and tightened regulations prohibiting the sale and use of tobacco in and outside school premises.
According to statistics from the Department, 100% of schools in the province have implemented propaganda about the harmful effects of tobacco through many diverse and flexible forms: class activities, experiential activities, school radio, parent meetings, pedagogical council meetings...
More than 1,300 banners, slogans, billboards, and posters with the message "Exposing fake attraction" were hung in areas such as school gates, school yards, classroom hallways, etc., creating a positive communication effect.
All schools have posted “NO SMOKING AND E-CIGARETTES” signs in visible locations such as offices, restrooms, multi-purpose buildings, etc., contributing to creating a safe and healthy learning and working environment. Many schools have issued internal regulations to prevent students from accessing new tobacco products. Some units also closely coordinate with local police and the Parents’ Association to monitor students outside of school hours, especially near the school gate – where clandestine buying and selling often occurs.
